Can I please make this clear for you? Once a weapon,any weapon has been invented and is in the hands of someone looking to use it to gain a dominance over another,human nature tells you to succumb to the weapon holders wishes if you have no way of getting away alive.Or possibly dying defending yourself. There is NO going back to primitive weapons. AKA Never bring a knife to a gunfight.For the most part my gun stays at home. If it is used on someone it will be in my house and you are there for criminal purposes. I sleep well at night knowing that I am protecting my family. That is until I get a call from the gun-hating neighbor in the middle of the night to please help him with the intruder who just broke in. Police will be there in 10 minutes. Can you afford to wait? Sorry but I believe in the old adage....better to be judged by 6 than carried by 6.

These folk actually think little squibs like the I-left-the-gun-on-the-porch-and-it-didn't-do-anything bon mot that started this thread are clever and devastatingly effective---so much so that they actually repeat the banality over and over in "subtle" variations on the theme (I left my AR-15 in the barn; I left mine in the closet, I left mine in the glove compartment, and on and on in its endless progression of "creative argument" ). This passes among the gun-bearers as Lapierrian "wit." Not a stitch of logic brought to bear, or countenanced when used, as you have, so effectively and without rancor---just the endless, no-variation, regurgitation of NRA and Fox News claptrap. Wingnut whining and chest-thumping. Depressing as hell.

I'm afraid, Jade (as I've learned from being here some time now) that you are a voice crying in the desert. You should preserve your vocal chords in this forum, my friend. Your intellect, your logic, and the inherent good sense of your non-frenzied prose will get you . . . precisely nowhere. FBTim, You hit the nail on its head. It was the libtards that pushed the "mental defectives should lead a normal life and associate with the general public". Thus, all the insane asylums were closed, the inmates released into the environment where they had access to guns, schools,theaters and other masses of people in gun free zones.
