Been on the Mackinac many times. I go on the see thru grating on purpose for fun! Nothing to it. You want stress?? Take a cab in Cairo, Egypt. Over 16 million people and no traffic lights, at least the time I was there. My cab brushed a bicycle rider and just kept going after a sharp exchange of words. Another time he went on the wrong side for about 100 yards to avoid a traffic jam. Fun times were had by all!!! :-)

The Mackinac Bridge authorities will supply a driver for you.
The worst part is the section that is not paved, just a see-thru grating.
A few years a go a little car ( a hugo) got blown off by the cross winds.

I rode it on my Harley with my wife, now that was scary since I am afraid of hights and my wife.

At first was the height and the bike's reaction to the grating, but once my wife clamped onto my sides with a death grip, it took away any concerns with the bridge because my thoughts were about what will happen when we got off the bridge. She actually enjoyed the thrill, but not enough to go back, so I crossed back alone (easier) and she hopped into a car of some people we met.

No wonder we are considered a wimps by some!!!

That is too funny! However I can relate, years ago I HAD to conquer my fear of heights, it wasn't pretty but I did it.

I drove through the tunnel many times in a tractor trailer. I will say it seems a little narrow. I will also say when they close one tunnel and u have two way traffic the mirrors on the tractors seem a bit close

There is a difference between the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The one mentioned first in the article was the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that runs from the western shore of Maryland to the eastern shore. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel runs across the southern end of the DelMarVa Peninsula to Va.

When I was in the navy during Korea When comming home on leave from norfok Vrgina our bus would be jammed on the ferry crossing. and it was worse comming back at night. The ferry would only take busses. When it was rough the top of the busses would bang togather. The bridge was a very good improvment. Ive been over it quite a few times and I think its just great. Some people get shook up when they cant see land if front or behind them. It looks like your driving on a long thin ribbon. There are pull offs so people can stop along the way.
