We revolted against the King Of England so that we would not be subject (ruled unfairly) by a European monarch.

So what did we the people do?

We continually vote in politicians who end up being kings and queens who are not subject to the same rules as we the people.

Politicians;
- work less time than we do
- get much, much higher pay than we do for much less work
- have better medical care and dental care than we do
- have better travel expenses than we do
- have better vacations than we do
- have better retirement packages than we do
- live in larger and more opulent houses than we do
- are much less efficient in managing budgets than we are
- drive gas inefficient cars more than we do
- have chauffeured limousine service on a regular basis
- waste tax payer funds
- their children attend private schools which most of us can not afford
- and more

They are kings and queens and we let them be kings and queens.

Solution: Term Limits for all politicians and judges.

How do we enforce Term Limits?

We the people must start a grass routes effort towards enacting an amendment to our
U S Constitution.

Think about this! The population of these United States is approximately 316 million. The population of the Congress and other Federal politicians is about 800.

800 divided by 316 million means that less that one percent rules over the rest of us. Is that fair?

No it is not fair especially since those governing, the politicians, enact rules for the governed, we the people, rules which they don't follow or they are not subject to follow.

Solution: TERM LIMITS. It's time for another Constitutional Amendment.

The President has term limits. Why not Term Limits for all politicians and judges?

We put safeguards in place to make sure they don’t suffer financially. At the end of their two-year term, we send them back home, and they are rendered ineligible to ever serve again. One could refuse the appointment, of course, but if one did, that person would lose their right to vote, perhaps only for a set period of time. After all, rights carry responsibility.

Every day in this country, we give twelve randomly selected people the power of life and death over defendants in criminal trials. If your neighbors are trusted with that immense responsibility, why not trust them with the reins of government? Every day, people balance their checkbooks, run businesses and households, and raise children. Why would they be any less capable of running the country? Especially grouped together in congress? Remember, it isn’t your neighbors and friends that don’t trust you, it’s the government. They think they know what’s best for you. I say let’s take it back.

However, I disagree with "At the end of their two-year term, we send them back home, and they are rendered ineligible to ever serve again."

I would prefer limiting them to a second term without any retirement benefits, then skipping six terms before they would be eligible to serve again, and again always serving without any retirement benefits.

I agree. We need to start a movement like the Fair Tax folks. A number of states already have term limits for their state elected officials so it should be achievable to extend it to their congressional/senate reps. :thumbup: :thumbup:

IMHO it is delusional to think that Congress will ever vote for term limits. For most of them politics is the only job they have ever had and it is more like the family business than anything else.

In principle I agree. But there are term limits. 2 years for the house and 6 for the senate. It's the as$%#es who keep voting them in taht is the real problem. Stupid is that stupid does. Just because the average voter has the intelligence of a can of peaches you want to change the Constitution? The idiots the various states wouldn't vote for it anyway.

I understand what you are saying but true term limits is when there is a specific number of terms that the incumbent may serve eg. the president. The states need to come together and introduce another amendment to the constitution. Two terms and you are out!
