WordPerfect on a Mac

I've been using WordPerfect almost since it started, and I'll continue to use it on my Windows machine. What I would like to do is be able to use it on my Mac. I know there are ways to run Windows programs on a Mac, but from what I've heard, there are lots of drawbacks.

I recently learned that Corel has made WP 3.5 for the Mac available as a free download. I haven't tried it yet, but I hope to get it later today.

Any comments on WP 3.5?

I understand the free download was for a 68000 or PowerMac at IOS 7.5. I would call Corel and ask them generally if the program will run on an Intel Mac and specifically if it will run on your machine with your specific IOS. I believe you will need at least Version 3.51 to run on an an Intel Mac.

You can run just about any Windows program on a Mac IF you partition your drive and dedicate part of the drive to a Windows emulator such as Parallels:

Since it's a free download, I'll give it a try and see what happens. I don't want to mix Mac and PC.

I, too, am a WordPerfect fan. It is so much better than Word. I have been using it with Parallels since i switched to Mac about 7 or 8 years ago without a problem.

Parallels? I think I heard of that. I'll take a look. I see they also make Quicken for the Mac, and the files are compatible with WP files.
Can you give me a brief rundown on how that works?

Parallels creates a partition onto which you can install a virtual Windows program. There you can add WordPerfect or any other microsoft applications. It works very slickly with Mac. You can got from one O S to the other without a problem. Actually you can have both a Mac and a Windows program running at the same time, switching back and forth as you wish. Text copied from the Mac program can be pasted into your MS program without a hitch. Very helpful if you have programs like WP or Photoshop for Windows but like Mac for general purposes.

And this will work with a disc that already had programs and data? How do you decide how large to make the partition, and can it be adjusted later?

#1: Yes
#2: Installation is pretty automatic and you can adjust later.

Sounds perfect.

EDIT: Will I have to buy a copy of Windows to install on the Mac?

I can't download it on my Mac (pop-up blocker turned off), so I'm downloading onto my PC, and I'll use a flash drive to move it.
