GE is Moving from Wisconsin . Keep your eye on Waukesha , Wisconsin ......Their biggest employer just moved out.
General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha , Wis. , to Beijing .

In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year, but paid no taxes - the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the United States .

So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar). Immelt is supposed to help create jobs.

I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs.

Thanks Jeff, you're a "real" American.... and give Obama our Best!

If this doesn't show you the total lack of leadership of this President, I don't know what does.
Please pass this information to others and think about it before you buy a GE product.

As a independent stockholder in GE for a number of years I would like to inform you that GE has recently moved jobs from Mexico back to the U.S. You can download an annual report anytime to see what they are planning and what they have accomplished. Most recently they have decided to get out of the consumer credit business which I for one applauded. The stock is currently undervalued. It should be around $50 a share.

I think it's the H2 channel that has a series called The Making of America. It was very interesting to see how J.P. Morgan was involved in the development of the electrical grid in the Eastern seaboard (Niagara Falls plant). He essentially went with the A.C. of Tesla over the D.C. of Edison. He then bought up Edison-G.E. stock to completely take over General Electric. If you have a chance to watch #1 of this series, it's well worth it.

Everything else is, too bad he doesn't give credit to Bush for the good stuff, like killing Bil Laden, hell he barely gives the seals credit, he took the credit for that too.

Oh By the way, the reason GE paid no tax is they followed the tax code. You could do the same, so could I, if I had the money GE pays for tax lawyers.
And I agree on the quality of GE kitchen appliances. ( I know GE employees that do not buy them even with a GE discount)
GE however makes a wide range of products, from aircraft electronics ( avionics ) Combat electronics, Patriot Missle gozintas. Power generating equipment, medical equipment, finance companies, on and on.

If I remember correctly GE employs 300,000 folks in 100 nations

Back in the eighties I was following a BN freight train through the Cascade mountains taking photos. The train was stopped outside the 8 mile Cascade tunnel, and I struck up a conversation with the crew as they waited for a westbound train to clear the tunnel. I commented on the new GE cabless locomotives in the consist to which the engineer said "GE Can't make a decent toaster, what makes them think they could build a locomotive? We burn one of these up with almost every trip over the hill!" Evidently they must have improved their quality as some years later GE overtook GM-EMD in selling the most locomotives.

Hell they even build engines for Boeing aircraft. (Airline customers choose what engines they want in their planes). It's unfortunate that GE is packing up and moving to China, but business' often move to the place with the best business environment, usually that means moving the headquarters to a different state, but in this case it's obviously off shore. Thank to a crappy economy, and unfriendly tax rates, they will go where the share holders will get the biggest return for their investment. The claim that it pays no federal income tax is disputed by GE. Moreover, aside from corporate income taxes, GE pays payroll taxes, state taxes and local taxes. So the assertion that GE pays “nothing – zero – in taxes” is simply inaccurate.
