Going to be a restless sleep tonight for 100's of thousands of New Zealanders.

2 races tomorrow.
A new Oracle Skipper?
A new Tactician?
Who knows? I'll be in bed, maybe not asleep tho, when Oracle announce their crew.
It has to be 4 hours before the start.
I'm betting they get the pommie Ben Ainslie as skipper and maybe a new Tactician?
By the by. A little history if anyone's interested.
It is the oldest sporting trophy in the World.
In 1851, or thereabouts, a New York yacht club sailed the schooner 'America' to England to compete for the 100 Guinea Cup.
They won and renamed the Cup, Americas Cup, after their boat.
By the way, the competition is not between countries, it's between yacht clubs.
The holder of the Cup gets to control the rules, amend them and invent new ones if they want to.
And boy, have the American holders made it difficult at times.
Culminating in a panicked Dennis Connor (USA) secretly building a catamaran when he thought NZ was to good to beat in a single hull.
We fronted with a yacht and Bad Boy Dennis thrashes us with his multi hull.
It's never gone back.

So pardon me for being nervous, even though it looks like NZ have the talent and the fastest upwind boat.
I think it's difficult to trust Larry Ellison and his billions of dollars. He likes to win.
Have to wonder what he's got up his sleeve.

GO CAMPER AND TEAM NEW ZEALAND

Thanks for the history. That is interesting.

2 good decisions and a bad decision today from Oracle, in my opinion.
Good keeping Spitall, good bringing in Ainslie, but why get rid of John Kostecki? Rumours everywhere
of course, but no one really knows other than the Oracle team.

Another great day on the water for Team New Zealand with another 2 big wins, but it isnt all over, even yet.

Ah, how I wish I were in San Francisco, Yachting, Summer, Flower Power and all that :)

Another day on the water tomorrow morning (NZ time).
I was so stressed after Oracles win a couple of days ago, I went out and pranged the car! (Just kidding.)
I did have an accident, no one hurt thank goodness, but hopefully It wasn't because I was over stressed from the AC!

We now have two almost identical boats - performance wise.
One crew, Oracle, made up of the best match racing sailors, from around the World, money can buy.
Another crew, all NZers except one brilliant Ozzie.
Can NZ win just 2 more races?

Oracle USA works better in strong winds.
Aotearoa (the boat) likes lighter, around 20 knot winds, but the crew are used to dealing with even up to 30 knots (NZ, Auckland harbour conditions).
The forecast for SFO Bay is usually 16knots during the month of September.
Tomorrow again the local forecast is for 23, gusting 28 knots.

Will there be racing tomorrow?
Just about the whole country will be having trouble sleeping tonight.
People are taking sick leave so they can stay glued to the TV.
If I wasn't 'retired', I'd be sick tomorrow.
A running out of cars so hopefully, someone will win easily tomorrow

Anyone want a bet on the outcome?
I need money to buy a new car ;)

Will today see The Americas Cup become The Aotearoa Cup?

After 16 days of racing.
Racing called off because the winds were too strong, then were too light.
Race cancelled because it was taking too long to finish.

Today has to the the decider.
Or can Oracle pull off yet another win?
Or will a whale put a stop to racing today!

Not exaggerating to say that nearly the whole country are behind Team New Zealand and will be holding their breath.
Radio, TV, Businesses, Schools. Everyone is talking about just one thing.
Manufacturers have run out of NZ and TNZ flags, and red socks!

Go you good thing!
