So proud of our guys and proud to be a Kiwi.
Even with his billions of dollars Larry didnt win a race today.
Just goes to show "you cant buy happiness".

My wife just told me Ive got to be a humble and gracious winner.
Not sure how I do that :)

Thanks Bruce. Have been a big fan of this race for many years and was pretty critical of changing
it into a formula one type event.
Even though I hope, if/when we bring the auld mug home, they change back to single hull traditional
yachts, we were all on the edge of our seats for both events this morning.
Not knowing what the defenders were going to trot out had phones going all night with 'theories' :)
and I think some of us had trouble sleeping.
Cheers mate.

Keeps the heart warm doesn't it? What a shame there's a bit less sportsmanship involved than there could be.
Mike.

ps - boy, can those boats move on out!

Great showing. I really liked the racing in the monohulls. Have no idea why they went to the Cats. They are fast though.

You say "We beat you rats, you are a bunch of losers, you stink, and then smile." :-D

Good job. Boat racing ain't my thing but I do like to watch the Americas Cup. It is great when hard work wins over money.

No, you are right, never over till the fat lady sings.
But am writing this while waiting for the next race this morning and I can hear the fat lady humming.

NZ need 6 more wins.
USA needs 11 wins to keep the Cup.

One of the amazing things about this regatta is that both boats were built totally independently
and under heavy security. No one knew what the other boat could do and here we are and both boats
are almost identical in performance. NZ a little better upwind perhaps.
Its now down to the tacticians, the skippers and the teams performance, mainly, now.
Next race starts in 15 mins, gotta go.
Go Team New Zealand

O, and thanks for the how to be not humble. Will save that in case Oracle get up to anything shonky. (again:) )

Race 4 and a great showing by Oracle USA. Congratulations to Spitall and his team.
The Fat Lady is still humming, but a little quieter after that race.

Hi Tony P, Thank you for starting this post. You have very good cause to be proud of your guys. New Zealand is the home of the some of the best sailors in the world and the Emirates crew, at this point is the best. They make very few mistakes and during the past few weeks their competence at handling these tricky machines has visibly grown and has been a pleasure to watch. Let us hope the Oracle crew can pull together and make an honorable defense of the cup. Yesterday was good racing.
PS
I just found your post on a topic (Congratulations New Zealand) that I put up with some images of the LV Cup. Thank you for the kind words.
I hope it is OK to put up a couple of shots of Emirates on your thread. Good luck and happy sailing.
Phil

Hi Tony P, Thank you for starting this post. You... (show quote)

Hi again Phil, of course, feel free to post as many as you like. Just wish we could be there to watch live, get some pics
myself and absorb the atmosphere.
I do think Oracle are going to get better and better as the match plays out.
Team NZ have the advantage of competing in the LV Cup, but now that Spitall and Coutts are actually competing,
they are just going to get better and better as they go on. It's going to be tight in my opinion.
Of course I want to see the Cup in NZ but would far rather see a fierce defence than have a walkover :) .
San Francisco Bay has got to be one of the best harbours, for match racing, in the world. The tide and fluky winds just
add to the unknowns and the drama and San Francisco is a beautiful City so spectators have the best of all worlds
Cheers

Tony, your comments on the potential role of the "tide and fluky wend" in the bay is quite right. This will be fun. I will be out there Tue and Thur.
Cheers back, Phil

You are right. It makes it very interesting. They need to use their wits to win and not just $$$$$.
