B-17 at a local Air Show

Model Air Show that is. This model was hand built (not from a kit) and has four electric motors we were told also hand built, the turrets all functioned and of course retractable landing gear. All that was missing was the sound of the big Wright R-1820 Cyclone 9 engines.

Those things are amazing. They used to have a show here at the little county airport in the fall. Have seen miniature jet planes at a couple of those shows.

I really don't remember. The owner said but at my advanced age I don't remember a lot of stuff.

They were the go to bomber of WWII. A really beautiful bird. Thanks for looking and comments.

Heck when I was young I didn't remember a lot of stuff... and I still don't... :(

I was skimming and just looked at the first two images, thinking that it was a full sized plane. The final image puts things into perspective doesn't it? Nice!

I would be interested to know what version of the B17 this model represent? the nose is unfamiliar to me.
