If the ladies were required to attend in the nude, that might just make a sports fan out of me.

be careful what you wish for. Looking at some of the folks who attend sporting events, going sans clothing might be a turnoff. :D

I just read in the NY Times that any kind of carrying packs including camera bags are being banned from NFL games. I you want to bring anything to a game it has to be in a transparent plastic bag. Imagine carrying some extra lenses banging around in a plastic bag...now they are saying your camera bag could have a bomb in it. What is the world coming to?

I realized a long time ago that it is much easier and more fun to watch NFL games on television - particularly with the bigger 16:9 ratio screens. This just becomes one more reason to not go to the stadium.

The last time I went to a baseball game, I was surprised to see so many people using portable TVs. They wanted the commentary and close-ups - and the expensive hot dogs.

None, take what you want, so many yobs/thugs go to our games there is too much trouble after to worry about what happens inside.

Over here they laughingly call them "fans", I would not set foot in a UK football match for fear of the trouble during or after

Sorry genuine fans

Absolute nonsense - I go to football at a top central London club every home match, drink in a pub close to the ground, and stay around after the match most weeks, and there is virtually never any trouble in or outside the ground. The days of "yobs going crazy" are (gladly) a good way back in the past now - the situation you describe is more like the 1980s than now. I'm not saying "never" but it's very rare. And to answer the OP, most Premiership clubs will stop you taking in an obviously professional camera (i.e. DSLR with interchangeable lenses) if they find it, but most will allow bags although they will search them at the gate.

It's been a while since I checked, but the limit I remember for MLB games as a general patron in the stands was nothing longer than a zoom measured physically as longer than 8-inches. No restriction on the camera. If you bring your favorite gal along (well, until this new NFL policy...) you could always have her pack in a longer lens in her purse while you had something less attention getting on the camera...

...and if he tests positive for drugs, weed, steroids, blood transfusions, alcohol, weapons offenses, brawling, wife-beating, cheating...then suspend him for 211 games, while he can play and collect a paycheck, incentive pay, endorsements and fight the league for infringing on his due-process rights. And people actually PAY to watch these people?

We can now determine our age by our level of fear.

I've been to every sporting event and every National Park and nothing bad happened. I driven every Interstate highway without being killed. I've explored caves and climbed mountains. I lectured students at 10 universities and not been shot. I got married three times, raised kids and have had many dogs all without serious injury.

Now I'm supposed to fear anyone, anywhere with a backpack?
Young people will risk living. Old people fear more and more with time.

Never vote for anyone over the age of ---.

As I understand it the reason is to keep people from bringing booze into the games. We have a an NFL team in our area and the problem with out of control intoxicated fans is what brought this on. They have even eliminated the imbibing of spirits at tail gate parties in the parking lot. The only alcohol you can get is from vendors the first half of the game and I guess they figure at ball park prices most folks won't drink enough to cause problems. I have only ever been to one game there and the drunks urinating on the walls because they couldn't get in the john fast enough cured me of ever going to another one.

Here is the new policy. My friend is a State Trooper and works at the stadium for all of th Bill's games. He says this new policy has people fuming at the gates. He said just about every woman with a purse ends up taking it back to the car.

And we'll pay him another $5,000,000 to wear shoes with our company name and logo.

Yes the world has changed and I think for the worse.

In the 50's our favorite boy's play ground game was stretch and mummly peg with our pocket knife. Now a student would get expelled for taking a butter knife to school or pointing their finger like it was a gun.

In the 60's during hunting season you would put your shotgun or rifle in the car so you go go hunting right after school. In the Navy one of our favorite leave spots were in the middle east countries.

In the 70's when I was a police officer and traveled on commercial flights I would show them my badge and ID and ask how they wanted to carry my weapon and they would advise how ever I was comfortable with it. Try that now.

Well I think I will stop with the 70's because I can't keep up with things since then and I would have to write a book.

I have to think about all of the changes my Grandfather saw in his lifetime but for the better part they were mostly technology advances and not the world going to hell. :-(

Can you take a dslr on a strap around your neck?
