Countries with mandatory gun ownership (example -Switzerland) have the lowest rates of violent crime in the world; cities in the us that require gun ownership show the same results; not only gun violence, but overall violent crime, go figure!

We don't call 911, if we did it will be too late! At more than 50% illegal alien population and rampant gang activity with killings every week, we are our only protection from those that want to harm us including tyrannical governments.

Australia and New Zealand were ranked highest in crime victims (USA #15). High ranks in RAPE as well. Seems they would do well to have have guns.

This is typical example of an ignorant person regurgitating low level NRA propaganda.

1. In Western countries with effective gun control criminals have learned it is nor worth their while to carry weapons. As the law abiding citizens are not armed their is no reason for the criminals to risk an extra 5 or 10 years incarceration. This is why these countries, and by extension every citizen in these countries, is so much safer. The overall murder rate averages about a quarter of the US.

2.Quoting a list of totalitarian countries imposing gun control in no way establishes a link between gun control and government sanctioned murder. It's what happens in totalitarian countries. No country introducing gun control through a civilised democratic process has suddenly turned on their citizens.

3. Trying to liken cars to guns is yet another NRA red herring aimed to bemuse the mindless. Cars are an essential part of everyday life, modern America could not function without them. There are plenty of modern societies operating happily with very few guns in the entire civilian population.The percentage of deaths ratio to the amount of time people spend using cars is tiny. The percentage of times someone is injured or killed ratio to guns fired is relatively very high. In addition, cars are strictly licensed, users have to prove competence, and most idiots end up banned from driving.

4. Most major American cities are now on the list of dangerous places to visit, some countries even advise against going. This puts much of the US alongside places like South Africa and Jamaica.

Unlike most Americans I have had the benefit of visiting and living in many different countries. I have spent over 6 of the last 20 years in Australia, where, the difference since gun control is truly remarkable. Almost the only gun murders nowadays are criminal on criminal, mostly bikie gangs and even these are rare enough to make national news. There have been no mass killings since Port Arthur in 1996 which prompted the current gun laws and the murder rate has dropped to around 1 person in every 100,000 compared to 4.3 in America.

I grew up on a ranch where guns were used as part of daily life. Later I spent 10 years in the military. I know guns well, and I know how people react in situations involving guns. There are almost no situations where arming up makes civilians safer. Y'all are going to say I know a small town where everyone has to carry a gun and there is no crime. Good for you. There are small towns all over the World with or without guns with no or low crime. Look at the cities, New Orleans and St Louis are among the most dangerous cities in the World. Chicago is not far behind because it impossible to have effective gun control in isolation.

Finally the constitution. The role of the constitution is to protect and serve the American people, not vice versa. Therefore, if there is a part of the constitution causing the deaths of nearly 30,000 people a year, then it should be changed. The constitution is a living document, the purpose of the Amendments is to allow progress.
