Martin: is this set of images uncropped? If so, your jumpers are significantly larger than the one's I've seen. Are these with 36 extension + the Raynox? I'm asking because, I feel like my resolution isn't that great. Granted I'm using a D300 (12.3)-- but I wouldn't think it would make that much difference. Here's one I shot yesterday which is uncropped for reference.
Jumpers vary greatly in size, one thing about Martin's is that if you take a good look the eyes are different, on your little jumper the two center eyes are much larger by comparison to the outer eyes, at least it seems that way to me, it could be that on Martin's spider they are just spaced further apart, no matter there is a distinct difference in the look. The particular species of spider that exhibits the characteristic of Martin's spider tend to be much larger than the little ones that we usually find, except for the gray wall spider that I found a couple of months back, she was the largest jumper that I have seen, but probably still a bit smaller than Martin's here.

Yeah. We are comparing "apples to oranges"... or maybe oranges to tangerines.... So question for you: What camera are you currently using? I've never chased megapixels-- but I'm beginning to think about an upgrade....

When I mention The family Phidippus then I'm talking the largest type here in Florida. 80% of my jumpers are the same size as the one's you guys are shooting.. But it's all relative. I simply up my magnification with smaller jumpers.
I'm shooting the D7000 which is 16 megapixel.

Really liking that "Leg Hair Spider" find some more of them.

#4 in this set is extraordinary... How did you not post it before?

Well the second barbed wire shot ("hiding" ) has way better contrast/resolution than mine. Must be my technique-- I was hoping it was technical! LOL.

I probably have about a thousand, fifteen hundred, keeper jumping spider shots. Sometimes I go back and pull a few. I figured you folks have seen enough and don't always share. I remember deleting by accident 200 plus jumper photos from a weekend at the lake, it almost killed me till I realized I can't even count the ones I have..

This has been a really interesting post. Thanks for the info on your method of stacking. I'll be trying this method for sure.
