Wow - what a fantastic image. - I really have to get into this stacking business.

Could I ask how quickly do you take the images? My speedlight takes a more to cycle with fresh batteries so with a 12 shot stack the subject may have moved.

Amazing as always. As a "stacker", I'm in awe with hand-held 12 shot stacks. I'm also curious about flash recycle times. My Yongnuo will not recycle that quickly-- even with fresh batteries. Do you use Lithiums?

Pretty darn impressive, still don't understand how you can handhold and keep the shots aligned both vertically and horizontally plus manage the DOF on these shots... I am sweating just thinking about it.

Me too. I tried-- but the images were so mis-aligned, I trashed them.

This was my third try for this individual as mention they do not sit still so be ready to spend some time with your subject. I never start out wanting to Stack any specific spider, but pick the subjects depending on how they react to me.. Some will be curious, others want to run away. At ISO200, and Aperture F/9 I can use my flash settings one notch below 1/2 power. That's the number 3rd power level setting on the manual settings on back of the flash, which has a total of 8 power levels.
Now I take these as quick as possible and would say about 6 seconds of time required for the shots. As soon as the shutter goes off, I'm a fraction from pressing the shutter again.

Hey Allen, glad you asked. I use Eneloop rechargeable batteries. I found these on Kenrockwells website, just used His search engine. Got a great charger with the batteries that drains the battery completely before recharging. These guys are Hotter than the Energizer or Duracell, depending on which were on sell that week. Batteries get expensive after awhile. Again, I'm on the 3rd power level when doing these stacks and my Flash, never misses unless getting low on power.

Here's the deal on that.. When field stacking or any other type for that matter you have to go forward or backward in a flow. If you miss a focus area just keep going, if you reverse/go back and capture the area missed, the software gets confused and will screw your stack up. If one is out of line, just delete before running the stack thru the software.

So are you shooting on "continuous"? Thanks for letting me pick your brain.
