Could anyone tell me what would be a color to paint the walls and ceiling for a small room to be used as a studio?

Black. so you don't get stray reflected light. You only want the light from your strobes through the soft boxes or brollies. I have a home studio in my garage and because Im only renting I can't paint the walls or ceiling. Its white but I do get great results. The ultimate is black though to make it nice and dark so you can start fresh with your lights and know that you're lighting your subject only via the light sources.

I also painted my Studio walls Matte White mostly because with some portrait sessions..Particularly Infants I like a more diffused "natural" light so I can bounce my studio lights off the walls and ceiling Works better than a soft box! Not everyones style but it works for me.. I've never had an issue with Stray light when I wanted more control, thats what modifiers are for. But then again I've never shot in a black room either so I suppose I wouldn't know the difference.😏

Paint the walls white...and hang black curtains from ceiling to the floor...just gives you a little more flexibility.

I have Gray walls and black landscaping cloth for the back ground if I need it. Also use different colored shower curtains. They are pretty cheap at the goodwill.:):) Just set it up last year for shots of Harrison.:):)

I just had an 18% grey card matched to paint my Computer room, curious to see if it has any effect on monitor calibration. Not sure if it would be a good color for a studio, but I may try it. Also made my wife happy that I was painting.
