I tried to order a Canon Rebel for a low price...I don't remember the entire sequence, I just wanted the body and the order turned out to have a lens with it, over the phone they gave me a high sales pitch and I saw I was having trouble with getting the original price for just the body...I "needed batteries that would last long" finally I just got fed up and tried to cancel the order and that wasn't easy either! They scare me.

Hi,

I bought a camera from them and they sure tried to up sell me on a bunch of stuff when I spoke with them and it was not possible to purchase without talking to them. I got the camera for a cheap price but without a battery and camera strap. I purchased both off eBay to round out my camera AND for a much cheaper price than their Up-Sell price for the same items. Take care & ...

Probably grey market, no battery, no charger, strap, cables - nothing but the body, and maybe not even that.

For a decent low price, get a refurbished one, or look on ebay for one with few shutter actuations.

I like refurbs from Nikon but it might be bit early for the D7100.

I checked out the D5200 a few days back and the refurb was only $50 less than a new one. That's not worth having the Nikon warranty cut back to 90 days instead of a year.

But you can get some good buys on used and refurb D7000s. KEH may still have the excellent one I sold them.

AJ RICHIES IS A SCAM, STAY AWAY!
I placed an order with them for this same Nikon over a week ago. Called their Customer Svc today because no camera. I spoke to Reggie who explained "the camera was coming from overseas, I should have known that, it is marked clearly on the website." It is not marked as such and they took an extra $39.99 for 3 day delivery. He then hung up on me. I called back, Reggie again, I asked to speak to his supervisor. He said, "Funny thing, I was just promoted to Supervisor today." I said let me speak to the owner. He said, "Wow, I am the owner too!"

What a joke. Do a search on them and you will see dozens of scam complaints. Fortunately, I was able to block the charge with my credit card company.

Really? people cannot smell a scam when the price for a CURRENT camera is this far out of whack? Really??

Just buy it from a know reputable dealer. I have a tough time having any sympathy for people who fall for this.

It was directed at you personally - just everyone who thinks that a current "new" camera would be priced a few hundred less than B&H, Adorama, etc.

There are plenty of reputable dealers. Five who I have spent too much money at: Adorama, B&H, Calumet, Hunts, and KEH. Knowledgeable staff, fair return policies, good quality used equipment, and good prices. I would consider another option only after hearing lots of good things about it.

Amehta,

What a concept, buying from five top quality camera companies!!! You clearly don't enjoy the excitement of multiple up selling phone calls or the thrill of getting questions like, " you want a battery with that" or "gee we're temporally out of stock on that $700 D7100 but we have the $1,100 model that comes with a strap, battery and is in a Nikon box".

Just kidding of course. Like you I would only shop at the type of companies you mention and I have done business with three of them. No hassles, fair prices and excellent customer service. Wishing you a Happy New Year!!!!

I bought a Nikon refurbished D7000. It came in brand new condition with no shutter activations on it. The kit with it, including manual, were new. It worked great.

But I didn't like it compared to my D5100 for a number of reasons so got rid of it after about six months. I got most of money back by selling it to a KEH rep who came to our local camera shop.

I too looked for the best price online, then as I saw many shops close, I got it! If I don't buy local they will all disappear. I now subscribe to getting the best value, price is a component but so is service and knowledge. I have developed a relationship with the folks at my local shop and I am a better photographer for it. I paid a fair price and have received a great deal of advice and support from the shop. For those in the Sacramento CA area I am referring to Action Camera in Roseville, fair price excellent service!

There were similar deals offered by reputable retailers on Black Friday-- but prices are back up. From looking at the reviews, I would NEVER buy from this retailer.

Bottom line is this: any advertised deal that undercuts the prices you see on B&H and other trusted retailers cannot be legitimate-- it's part of their wholesale agreement with the manufacturers.

Totally agree. Two of the five have stores in my area, so I shop there when I can.
