Sometimes when just a foto is posted in the "main foto Discussion " it will get moved to the pictures area, if there is NO technical question asked.
Also, any member can ask to have it moved, or admin can choose to do it also. SS

One writer has offered their opinion here that the 'best and knowledgeable' no longer post pictures on this site while those who do are only showing snapshots. There was also criticism for those who praise these photos. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so I thought I'd take this opportunity to express mine.
My two hobbies are cooking and photography. They both give me the opportunity to create something where I put a great deal of myself into the final product. I greatly admire people who prepare a nice meal for family or friends. It may not be up to the culinary standards of Gordon Ramsey but it's none-the-less an outstanding meal. It's outstanding because the cook used their very best effort to prepare a very personal gift and shared it with their fellow man. It is therefore outstanding.
I apply this same criteria to photography. An amateur photographer, like the amateur chef, puts their very best effort into producing a photograph to share with family or friends. It may not hold up to the professional scrutiny of an art critic but it's still an outstanding photograph because it's a personal gift. I prefer to spend my time with those who do their very best to create something and share it rather than with those who spend their time criticizing the efforts of others.
Keep on posting those beautiful 'snapshots', my friends. I love to see them and applaud you for sharing your passion with us.
