I agree, on another forum there is a tick box where you simply add a tick if you don't mind and this appears in all your posts, not tick and it states NO to editing, though some forum designs may not allow this

What forum is that?

I might prefer it to the self-appointed police.

I agree, why, as long as someone has a "genuine" reason to want to and give reasons why they have

We can all learn from others, even me on rare occasions

I posted , a few days ago, a picture of a Bentley Arnarge. A poster edited it with a "For Sale" sign in the window of the car. That's why I don't want my pictures edited and re-posted without my say-so. If someone asks permission that would generally mean that they have an idea that might be an improvement, an idea that I hadn't thought of or to demonstrate a technique.

+1 totally agree, that is NOT what editing is about.

I have just edited two shots

http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-137230-1.html

I did so because I thought they may be better and as usual even though I know the poster (check out his shots) I asked first

A better rule would be to add yes or no to your profile when you sign up and have it added below, as with mine. Then we would do away with the self-appointed police force.

That is problematic. Someone may be willing to have some images edited and would prefer it not be done on others.

I like to rock the boat, and as someone has already said.

This is a forum, perhaps you "should" expect people to want to edit your shots if you come here.

That's 1 damn good reason why if you allow your photo's to be edited a preview should be sent to you beforehand for your approval to be reposted.
Then and only then should it be posted for public display.

Personally I do not want my photo's edited unless I specifially ask that some one do something for me.
I don't understand why others are so gung ho to jump on and edit others photos .
To me that shows a display of arrogence, ego, wanting to show off or a need for attention and compliments.
Someone who truly wishes to help someone improve will contact said photographer via a direct PM and ask and discuss what changes they would like to make and why and offer to send them a copy for their approval and permission to repost said image before it appears here.
Would you have approached Van Gouh or Michealanelo or any of the other famous reknown artist and said hey let me redo that for you ??????
So its a definite no as to editing my photos unless I specificilly ask someone to do so.

Don't agree with these comments, the reason for a "forum" is to discuss, comment, criticize good or bad, whether the taker likes it or not, if you (I don't mean YOU personally) can't take it then you shouldn't join a forum of free speech, as long as the free speech and comments are not abusive and are relevant

Also pming someone is totally pointless as others here would not benefit from the comments would they and that is another reason for the forum

Once again you have missed the point here, First contact the person and discuss, then if ok post and explain why and what you did .
Nothing personal here but you are the first to jump when it comes to editing someones photo's also I see you allow others to edit your photos ( your choice) but you will not download any images for someone to get a better look for fear of someone stealing that image , Hello if your going to allow editing whats the difference there ( ok I'm dumb here but to edit ones photo's dosen't it have to be downloaded first ?, all I get is a copy , paste msg whenever I click on a photo thats not been downloaded.
On a downloaded photo I can move the cursor over the image and enlarge said subject to get a better look and bring out details I might have otherwise missed.
Months ago I posted some photo's for you to give me your opinion on and you flatly ignored that request, these were taken as a experiment to see what kind of response i would get, and then give you the information about said photo's.
I have painstakingly withheld any adverse comments reguarding you photo's and most comments made.
I truly welcome comments good or bad in regard to my photo's.
My hands are not the best as I have a crushed knuckle on my left index finger from a motorcycle accident 41 yrs ago , my right index finger is 1/2 shorter then the others due to a work related injury 14 yrs ago , and the right pinky finger is damaged due to a severed tendon about 20 yrs ago ,it will not straighten completely , it has a sort of hooked look to it , so I try to do most of my shots via a tripod with a remote as to reach the shutter release I need to contort my hand at a odd angle to press the shutter release as I have no fingertip above the nail line.
While you are entitled to your opinions weather I agree or disagree ,I too am entitled to mine weather you agree or disagree and most of the time I don't respond to avoid being called a smart ass or s#$tstirrer.

So why do you not say that as others have, in your profile for people to see

The forum rule is clear. If someone wishes to edit a photo all they have to do is ask. 8-)
