Do YOU allow people to edit your shots here

As can be seen from my post, in "personal profile" I added a line that "people can edit my shots".

I did this because there are people here with a REAL and GENUINE wish to edit others shots to show how they can be improved, BUT the rules are clear and for good reason, that you do not do so with out permission.

Can I suggest that we could all add the line to say either they can or can not be edited and that would save people having to be asked or to avoid any misunderstanding.

See the post here that I started it on.

And yes to answer the questions/comments in advance, I agree IF you allow people to edit the shots they should give a reason WHY they did it and how they believe it improves the shot, not simply do it for the sake of it.

Sometimes I edit others pics but do not upload them back to UHH because of that rule. I only do it to see if I can improve the photo. In a lot of ways, PP is more fun than actually taking the pics. I am going to add that line to my profile,

Good idea, but without a note specifying whether or not the OP wants to allow it, everyone should assume that it is NOT ok to edit without asking first.

The only exceptions to asking first should be if there is a statement in the 'signature' line, or if in the original comments there is a request for assistance in editing.

But why can't people do as I and someone else has, and say yes or no, and I do agree with you, that you should not assume you have a right to, as I always say "can others edit your shots", I have already edited it on my pc, so if they say yes I am ready to post it, if not I delete it

Raydancepro, the post doesn't reflect the comment I started this post for

Christ I have agreed with Wahawk twice in one day

While I don't agree that the rule makes sense I too have added a generic statement. The idea of inhibiting graphic illustrations that way makes no sense to me.

I think the default should be the other way and that people that don't want their stuff edited should say so. Or not post their photos on the Internet.

But I'll agree that while here we need to stick with what the controller establishes. I'd prefer a more open environment but haven't found one with as much good input.

I don't care why they do it but I am interested in what they did so I can learn.

So why do you not say that as others have, in your profile for people to see

I agree, why, as long as someone has a "genuine" reason to want to and give reasons why they have

We can all learn from others, even me on rare occasions

He has changed his 'signature', but why is it so hard for people in general to abide by the overall "Forum Rules" ?? Just shows how few actually read the Rules & Guidelines before jumping in!

Very few people read the "rules", this is a proven fact in every day life.

99% of people sign agreements without reading the small print or terms

Most people download software without reading the terms and just tick yes.

What harm therefore to add a line to your profile saying yes or no

A better rule would be to add yes or no to your profile when you sign up and have it added below, as with mine. Then we would do away with the self-appointed police force.

The tag line on Joe F.N.'s is what I'd like to see for anyone who doesn't want their photos edited.

I don't care why he doesn't want his stuff edited. If he doesn't he doesn't. He has that right.

That also might help do away with the self-appointed police who, IMHO, add nothing to the forum but discontent.

I agree, on another forum there is a tick box where you simply add a tick if you don't mind and this appears in all your posts, not tick and it states NO to editing, though some forum designs may not allow this
