If you call Adobe they will help you. You'll need to follow the instuctions they tell you and you will be allowed to change to the Mac version for free. I called and spoke to them and also many other companies offer the same service, such as plugins etc.
You can also download the CS5 trial from Adobe & purchase the additional license for your new computer. I do know that if you have to replace a hard drive, you can contact them to get a new serial number. They may allow that for the new computer...
Adobe backs what they sale, you have your serial number. Just tell them your PC crashed and you bought a MAC to upgrade your PC. They helped me for windows, as much money we pay why wouldn't they.
I have spoken to Adobe reps and you do not need to lie, just tell them you are switching to a Mac and they will walk you through the process for free.
Everybody has been so very helpful. Thank you. I did contact the Abobe people and they said I could get the mac version and just pay shipping of about 7.00 dollars after I signed something that said my windows version would be destroyed as dbart said. I think I will head in that direction. Someone mentioned that Picasa is free and it is, but I bought the more advanced version.
This site (UHH) is the best for getting tons of help!!!!
Set up an account on Lynda.com. very reasonable and they cover every aspect of any software listed. you can learn at your own pace and even get certificates upon completion.
gdionne98 Just went through the samething. I got in touch with adobe they told me I would have to deactivate it on my PC and they sent me a mac version.

Please, I need help. I have CS5 on my PC but I just purchased an Apple IMAC. What are my options for moving the CS5 to the IMAC. I don't want to buy software as someone suggested to run windows on the IMAC. (don't see the purpose of that) Short of buying a new version, are there any other options? I know there are some really techy people out there that can help me! PS..I have lots of plugins added to the CS5 just to make it a little more difficult. (Topaz)
I did this several years ago when I switched to mac. I contacted adobe and they sent me a mac version of photoshop.
If you're running a recent version of Mac OS 10, you should be able to partition your hard drive with a utility already a part of your OS software. Once you do that, load Microsoft OS into the partition and your PC software. When you start up your Mac you will then be given the option of booting up using the Mac or the PC operating system. Good luck. I'm a mac user myself.
A friend of mine had the same issue with a computer he had for less than 1 year and Adobe made an even up exchange.

You're describing what I wrote about before, Apple's Boot Camp. If you go that route, you need to install the Boot Camp software first, then follow Apple's directions for installing Windows. The negative of this approach is that you have to boot into Mac OS X or into Windows. It's an "either/or" situation. You're better off installing VMWare or Parallels, which let you switch back and forth between OS X and Windows, share files, etc. They each list for $80, and are often available for less.
Bootcamp is in the Utilities folder in Mac Lion OS (I use Lion). If "I'm desperate" has their Micro Soft install disk for Vista OS (I think) or newer they can use the Bootcamp software, included with Lion and not purchase any new software. I'm not saying this is an optimal solution, but I am saying it is an inexpensive, possibly free, solution. Also, this solution also allows them to use other MS compatible software they might own on their new Mac.
And your a lot more computer savvy than I. I did contact adobe and they instructed me to deactivate my PC version and will send me a mac version for the cost of the shipping. Thanks to all for your input.

If your version is legal and your serial is valid Adobe will allow you to change over at no cost. That is what I did and it was no hassle at all.
