Please, I need help. I have CS5 on my PC but I just purchased an Apple IMAC. What are my options for moving the CS5 to the IMAC. I don't want to buy software as someone suggested to run windows on the IMAC. (don't see the purpose of that) Short of buying a new version, are there any other options? I know there are some really techy people out there that can help me! PS..I have lots of plugins added to the CS5 just to make it a little more difficult. (Topaz)

As far as I know you will have to purchase CS5 for MAC, or run Windows as a virtual machine and then load CS5 on the partition.

As far as I know, you need the Mac version of CS5 to use it on your iMac, or you can mess up your Mac with windows.

When you get it sorted out, I'd love some help with CS5. I've had my iMac about a year, and the software about six months. but I can't figure out the software. I'm very good on Elements. But that doesn't directly translate.

Good Luck.

Yes, that's the option that someone suggested. I just don't see the purpose of running the windows on a mac machine. Seems that's just using the mac monitor. Thanks for the help anyway. I do appreciate it. I guess I need to get in contact with Adobe Customer Service and see what they say. yuck

Contact Adobe customer support (well, that's what they call it). Ask if you can get a cross-upgrade license. Some software vendors do that. It will still cost you, but not as much as a new copy. Same goes for Topaz and any other add-ons.

You could install Windows on the Mac. There are two ways. Apple provides Boot Camp, which is an either/or proposition. You boot into Mac OS X, or you boot into Windows. Plan B is you install VMWare Fusion or Parallels Desktop which allow you to install Windows on the Mac as a guest operating system. Then your existing software can be installed in that environment. Both Mac OS X and Windows can run concurrently, and you can share file folders and compatible files

Thank you so much for the info. I guess there is no easy solution. I may just take it back and stay with the PC. I really have soooo much to switch over and I really don't want to run two systems on the one computer. Thanks again for all the help.

There are a ton of plug-ins that work cross platform if that is the only issue

If your budget can stand it, stick with the Mac. You'll be lots happier in the long run. Just my personal opinion, but I work on both platforms and I wouldn't spend a dime to buy a PC.

Don't know about Picasa yet but Topaz was very helpful. They said I could just download the Mac version as I had just purchased the Bundle a couple of days ago. Thanks again for the help and opinions. You all are soooo helpful.

When I got my mac, I updated from CS3 to CS4. I called Adobe and they had me pay for the upgrade and then sign and send back a form that promised I would destroy the Windows version of the software. I emailed that back and they shipped me the Apple version.

My purchase of CS5 came with a license for two computers, my desktop and my notebook. Adobe might let you have an Apple version as one of your two licensed copies.

Have you tired downloading the Apple version using the serial number for the existing PC version you purchased? It might work.
