So ignore it and move along. Easy. :D

Use Canon DPP software that comes with the camera. That should simplify everything.
I would like to thank everyone for their help, as far as JR1's comment I spent over three hour reading and was unble to find anything in regards to the SX50 and RAW programs which support it.
Some of us beginners do go searching first, can't decide which of what we read is correct, come back here to people we trust to help us sort it out and talk it over. It's much easier to make a decision when you can talk to friends. It doesn't take long on the HOG to know whose answers you can trust.

Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh -
I am afraid PS7 may be getting a bit old to accept some modern digital neg formats. I ran into this with my D800 and my Mac. And I had CS4 suite! There was no way. I had to upgrade EVEYTHING! New Mac, CS6...arggg- good thing its my business- I was running into compatibility issues anyways. I feel you those who do this for fun.
While not your specific question, I did find the following- which may give you a clue as to whether you are in need of an upgrade.
http://forums.adobe.com/message/1659286#1659286http://forums.adobe.com/message/2243340#2243340I will say that the controls to adjust CR2's and NEF's have really come a long way since PS7/CS2. You'll get way more out of your images if you have the new tools. You may want to consider LR4 or CS5 or even CS6. Then you get to figure out of they even work on your computer!
The new cloud thing is really hated by people, but if you add the cost of the program, and the fact that it is constantly upgraded- it may be a wash or even cheaper in the long run- if you factor in upgrades. CS6 sells for 700, that nearly three years at $20 mo. By then there was an upgrade anyways... so another $700 chunk.
Anyway CS6 will be showing up on ebay soon. With the cloud, you are never left with an obsolete program as part of its features are constant upgrade tweeks as they release them. Exactly like they do smart phones.

Why don't you just go down to the pub, have an ale and CHILL OUT. Your constant harping on this is really annoying.
You have to remember that those with the least knowledge, like to show it off the most!!! Those that actually 'know' something tend to downplay it.
There is a village over there somewhere that lost their idiot and are looking for him..... I hope.......

Picasa will read and work with the SX50 'raw' format, as will Corel PaintShopPro x4, plus of course Canon's own DPP software that comes on the CD with the camera.

Hi Bultaco, I use Zoner Photo Studio 15, there's a free 30 day trial if you want to try it. I think it's very good for processing RAW.
I had a Bultaco tial bike once.

My mother taught me that if you don't have anything good or useful to say then don't say anything. Sometimes I will find myself starting to type a response to a post which doesn't really advance the discussion or answer the question and stop myself as I've tried to practice that in these forums but not always successfully.:-)
Yes people ask questions here that have been already been asked a thousand times. I'm probably guilty myself. The search function can cast a very broad net often returning hundreds of links. Looking through all those links to find the answer to your question can be time consuming especially when very few actually address the question you are asking. Thus it is usually easier and quicker to just ask the question. I'm not advocating that people NOT use the search function but when you get hundreds of results and after looking at the first 10 or 20 your question hasn't been answered then I think it's OK to ask in a new post.
As always this is just my opinion.:-)
Is this one of those posts where I just should have not responded?:-)

I think Adobe stops updating older versions of Elements to the latest RAW versions. Not sure what PS7 is but if an older Photoshop likely the same applies.
You should buy Elements 11. It is worth the upgrade and if patient in the U.S. anyway you can get it for $50.
I think you will find that older versions of Adobe products will not process the SX50 Raw files as they are pretty new. What you can do is process the files with Adobe Digital Negative Converter and then process that file in your Adobe Elements Software. This is usually much better than using the Raw software that comes with the camera. I know Elements 11 Raw processor will read the SX50 Raw files, but am unsure of any of the previous versions of the program.
The link to the latest Adobe DNG converter is here.

Thank all of you for your advice, this is my first attempt at RAW. The 2 programs I have are old and won't support the SX50. I'm going to buy Elements 11. I'd be more comfortable on a Bull on a MX track.
Thanks again
Larry
