How is that a man can lie about something that has nothing to do with the execution of his duties (Clinton) and be impeached and a man can lie to enhance his political position and do harm to his state and incur no consequence?

What the hell are you talking about RixPix you do the exact same thing on a daily basis right here on the hog. My God how hypocritical or self indulgent can one man be. By the way I didn't look at your link, you and ole sarge are far too predictable and will post a flat out lie if it will enhance your position.

Pepper,
You're absolutely right. Never look at anything that might make you realize that the things you believe in our absolutely false.
Living in the bubble is always preferable to acknowledging the truth that you don't like.

What I say and post has no impact on any given population. Whereas, a politician lying to make a program "LOOK BAD" is a crime and goes against his oath of office. This was published by Forbes...the only thing right of Forbes is the National Review. Just wallow in your ignorance and cling to your weapon...

First you need to read the article again, he didn't lie but did play with the policy levels which produced some misleading results. Here's where you and I part company, I would never vote for this guy, you on the other hand if he were a Democrat you'd be defending him for all you're worth. I think this guy is an ass probably not to the level of impeachment but enough to lose my respect and vote. I've said on many occasions on the forum that I disliked Bush the younger and would not vote for him. Tell me RixPix when is the last time you were disenchanted with a liberal anything?

Wow almost 15 years later and you still don't understand why Clinton was impeached. Here are the facts, Bill Clinton was sued for sexual harassment by a former subordinate. He was subpoenaed to testify under oath in civil court. He then proceeded to lie in that testimony, that's called perjury, and perjury is a felony. Now the Constitution, Article II, Section 4 says "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Since perjury is a felony, and a felony is a high crime, that is why he was impeached, unfortunately he wasn't convicted. And you liberals have cried about him being impeached because he had sex ever since, but people like you are what I like to call WRONG!

I'm not condoning the man lying, I hate lying no matter what the source, but luckily for both him and you, lying is not a crime. Only lying while under oath (like Clinton did) does it rise to a crime. So lucky for you and him you're both free to walk about spewing your lies with impunity.

You have the right to your opinion but not your facts. President Clinton was sued for sexual harassment but the case was settled out of court.

You forgot to mention that the Senate rejected the impeachment by the lame duck republican house.

Thus, Clinton was not impeached.

But, I notice you did not mention the Nixon affair (he left in disgrace to avoid impeachment) nor did you mention the Contra Affair. Whereby that clown colonel North took the rap for a handsome payoff.

Rather selective in your right wing mind set when it comes to high crimes and misdemeanors.

Okay I stand corrected Sarge, after all these years it seems my memory is a little fuzzy, but still correct on the major details, just misstated the minor ones. First Impeachment is like being charged with a crime, you still must be found guilty be be convicted. If you read the quote from the constitution I posted above you would have read that already. The fact is that the first article of impeachment by the House of Representatives approved, 228 to 206, accusing Clinton of perjury for misleading a Federal grand jury about the nature of his relationship with a White House intern, Monica Lewinsky.

A second article of impeachment, charged Clinton with obstruction of justice, on a narrower vote of 221 to 212. It accused him of inducing others to lie in order to conceal his affair with Ms. Lewinsky.

So although I misspoke as to the source of the perjury, my basic claim that he was impeached for perjury was correct, not opinion, and I completely left out the obstruction of justice charge.

Still waiting for Obama and Holder to face similar charges over fast and furious.
