Boy am I tired of this stupid argument. If you do even a tiny bit of research, you'll see what he actually meant.

He was giving a speech, and he was trying to say that he had visited all but one of the 48 contiguous states. That's 47, for those of you who can't subtract. Instead of saying 47, he said 57. It's that simple.

Of course his critics not only used it as an example of how stupid he is, but that he was showing himself to be an Islamist. Unbelievable.

It sure would be different if he was a Republican.
Every candidate misspeaks during a campaign.
They jumped all over Palin about her comment about Russia.

"he was showing himself to be an Islamist"
A direct quote from you.
I know it was taken out of context.
People do it all the time.

That the political left-wing STILL considers Sarah Palin such a threat speaks well of her character and political acumen. I suspect Sarah accepts it as a complement.
I think we could do worse than Rick Perry for president, but I also think we could do better.

It's hard to believe that anyone thinks that the left or the independents are afraid of Palin. She embarrassed herself in 2008 and likely cost McCain the election.

Our President is, of course, extremely fortunate that every time HE blunders he has thousands of people tripping over each other to explain what he really meant. Others (Palin, Romney, et al) do not enjoy this luxury.

Some may not be afraid of her, KW, but she certainly seems to have left an indelible mark on her "opposition". I hardly ever hear conservatives bring her up in conversation.

On your other point, I believe McCain was fully capable of losing the election on his own merits.

I think that Palin has made an indelible mark on her opposition because it is hard to believe that the other side could take her seriously. She is incredibly shallow. When McCain first selected her, I was open minded, but after a few days of interviews and speeches, I was amazed that she was ever considered. Even the McCain advisers have said that picking her was a huge mistake. Just for the record...I'm not a Hillary fan either and I don't see any attractive Democratic candidates for 2016 on the horizon.
