The Neewer remote is the same as the Canon, so save some money and forget the Canon. I'm paying $1.06 more for my Neewer, but it won't be here for a couple of weeks.

I would forget about that hood and filter kit. Mine arrived without the adaptor ring, so I can't use it till they send me another. Instead, get a 67mm adaptor. Then you can use larger filters and avoid any chance of vignetting. You can also choose which filters to buy and aim for better quality.

You got a better deal than I did on the charger and batteries by about $4. One complaint I've heard about this camera is short battery life. Now I have three batteries and two chargers. I like being able to charge batteries in the car.

Those chargers are interesting. They make one base unit and then design the top section to hold whatever new battery comes along - clever idea

Thats about every accessory they make for the sx50 and I have them all and am very satisfied.

My only suggestion would be the Pixel wireless remote...amazon 21.00 and works very well.

It looks like that Pixel fires the camera through the cable, not the hot shoe. In that case, you could still use an external flash and attach the control unit somewhere else.

This is a nice remote flash trigger, for a good price.

Thanks Jerry. I really appreciate your help with this.
It's so damn hard to decide on an alternative because there are so many options. There are even more than the ones I listed below. Any additional thoughts?
Thanks again.

I would get just the 67mm adaptor ring. Then you can decide what filters to get. Buying a kit is not going to get you good quality filters. You could wind up using a filter that will significantly affect your pictures. Trying to get the most items for the lowest price is a waste of money.

Apparently, that filter ring in your last link is plastic. I'd keep looking for one that says it's made of metal.

So to add to my confusion I need to decide which filter to buy.

How about this combo?

BTW The deal includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for $45.00. I currently have PSE 5.

Here's a good comment on the plastic adaptor.

"This is made of plastic which I was looking for and what I liked so it won't mar the lens of the camera.
If you go by the metal kind and it is a tight fit, then you already know which one will give (the lens and not the filter adapter ring).
This plastic adapter ring won't damage your camera but stays on it quite well with just the right amount of tightness.
The finish could better but is good enough and won't be noticed once you have a filter on it.
This is a good copy of the genuine article although not an excellent copy that you can't tell them apart.
I just gave it 4 stars for the finish (how it has been molded or made)..as for the fit, it fits quite good and firm."

It's "fulfilled" by Amazon - something I prefer. I see that even Canon's adaptor, for $21, is made out of plastic.

As for the filters themselves, I prefer to rely on test reviews. Here are some articles.

UV Filters

UV Filters
http://www.lenstip.com/113.1-article-UV_filters_test_Introduction.html

Polarizing Filters
http://www.lenstip.com/115.1-article-Polarizing_filters_test_Introduction.html

After buying cheap filters for years - "name brands" but cheap - I now read reviews and decide what to get. I've settled on 77mm filters, so I can use one filter on any lens with step-up rings.

Batteries: I was happily surprised to get 380 shots from my first use with the Canon battery that came with the camera, even using the LCD an average amount of time. Photive brand replacement battery is only getting about 200 - 225, even with minimal LCD use.

Is the Photive brand replacement battery the one I listed?
