I pointed this out several months ago here. We were arguing about Obamacare. I mentioned that I thought it funny that right in the middle of the post was an add about stopping Obamacare. A few of the libs responded, "That's not on my screen."
We are being watched and monitored. Sure, it may have started out innocent such as targeting certain products in advertisement. I tell all the young people to quit with the facebook and twitter crap, but they don't listen. I recently heard my sister-in-law say her company was hiring. She said she thought she had the guy, until she read his facebook page. She didn't go into specifics, and I didn't ask. Point is, if a small company here in Pittsburgh is doing it...........................................

What are you saying? People shouldn't have a Facebook presence because a prospective employer might find out about what kind of person they are? It doesn't have to be Facebook. If a person has accomplished anything, you will probably find it by a Google, Yahoo, Bing or similar search.
Even posts you make here on this forum.

Big brother is watching. Dont bother me a bit. I live just about 50 miles north of philadelpha. Since they put up cameras on most street corners and most shops have them they have caught most robbers and rapest. Much more than ever before. So I say let them watch.

That isn't really the issue, is it? It's not being afraid, it's being private, a right that has been around for ages and a natural part of being human.
If you've done nothing wrong, will you send me copies of all your tax forms, private correspondence, and medical records? Of course not. Is it because you're afraid? Of course not. It's because every human being is a private, individual person, with a built-in need for privacy in certain matters.
All power grabs start with the "If you've done nothing wrong..." mantra. Which, in my opinion, is incompatible with a republic.

I agree, it's not a matter of being afraid, but maybe just maybe as Americans we should be. This country was founded on individual freedom, the right to be free of persecution from your ideological beliefs .
So we should be afraid when the government allows an agency like the IRS to go after people for the political choices or their religious beliefs. Just like that information being leaked for specific purposes so can your personal emails, phone records , medical history, contributions , etc and that is not what this country the United States of America is founded upon.
That is what we should be concerned with our rights given to us by the constitution are being eroded.

So foolish, the government sets up the the infrastructure for a police state and calls on us to trust them not to abuse their power... Has the president not been telling us for the last few years that we have won the war on terror, that we are more secure now as he has decimated Al Qaeda? Now we see a strong effort on those in government to isolate those who politically oppose them, the IRS scandal is small potatoes when compared to those whom our own military identifies as terrorists. In case you have not noticed the emphasis of our anti terrorism efforts have become more and more focused on domestic terrorism than on terrorism from abroad. Right wing extremists have been identified as a larger threat to the American way of life than are Islamic extremists, Nadal Hassan is characterized as a discontented employee while the government has no difficulty in identifying right wingers as terrorists. This would really not be so concerning if the government would limit its classification to only neo nazi's, skin heads, and wacked out militias but that is not the case. We are constantly seeing an effort to characterize the Tea Party and now even libertarian groups as extremists...
No my friend, no American should support the building the infrastructure of a police state here in America, it is contrary to everything this country has ever stood for, regardless of your political ideology, it is dangerous and plainly wrong. Why does this administration go so far as to reading Miranda rights to enemy combatants on foreign soil yet trample our constitutional rights here on our own soil... Our government does not respect nor fear its subjects, that much is clear and the time has long ago passed for the people of this country to stand up and make it known that things have gone too far! They went to far under Bush, and they are going even further under president Obama.
I certainly hope he is watching, watching over us to protect us from these radical fools wandering our streets.

I am not fearful, but I believe in questioning what the government is doing and why. Be careful of how much freedom you are willing to give up in the name of security. I believe in the patriot act to a point.

I agree with you but with all the terroristic possibilities out there we, the country, needs all the help and safeguards possible. I am not condoning blind faith as far as trusting the government is concerned, we have to look at any remedies with sn open mind.

Paranoid? Just because I believe some things are nobody's business but my own?
It's what we used to call freedom.
