For all of the ancient aviators and warriors ...... Lest we forget!

Thought you would like this...
Occasionally someone sends you a great video that you just have to share -
this is one of those. Turn on sound! Great song accompanies the video .

Plane Lovers and Pilots will love this....... and so will every red blooded
American and Canadian. Whether it is a hot rod or plane we all have the same
love and respect and are truly blessed for those that served to protect our
freedom.

My favorite all time air show pilot was Bob Hoover. He is seen here in his classic straw hat at approximately the 1:10 mark. Great memories.

And while Bob Hoover is most remembered for his air show expertise, he was a pilot during WW2, shot down by a German pilot, kept prisoner for over a year and finally escaped and stole a Focke-Wulf and flew it to the Netherlands.

He's still with us, a genuine old fart and a real American hero.

As one who has had aviation in his blood since boyhood, I very much enjoyed this video clip tribute to aviation and the aviators who man these flying machines. Thanks.

   Thanx much for this. For some strange reason it started me reminiscing about my days in USAF UPT. There was an aviator by the name of Connie Edwards who had a spread near our base. Whenever Connie wanted to go fly, our entire operation would stand down for him to take off and climb out of the area. More than once I got a free airshow of an old warbird Connie was airing out that day. He had been one of the professional advisors and pilots in the movie "Battle of Britain". On payday the producers offered to pay the pilots "in kind" so they all flew away in the planes used in filming. Connie had his own warbird Air Force and we were jealous as hell. The one thing Connie envied about us? We were flying a Mach+ aircraft, and we were being paid for it!

Flying! The MOST fun you can have with your clothes on.

   great photos, especially the P-51 and the F-4. I have never seen an F-4 pilot "hang in the air" before. If you notice, the leading edge devices are extended for slow flight without the gear out. Unusual situation but the airspeed difference required changing the wing shape so the Phantom could match the P-51's speed. Thanx!

Thanks for the interesting observations of the F-4 configuration for slow airspeed.

The F-4 "Phantom" has been one of my favorite jet aircraft, although I favor prop jobs.

The twin fuselages belong to a P-38 Lightning, not a Mustang. A great flier in it's own time.

Great video and wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments entirely.
Without any insults intended, remember the RAF, Poles,Canadians, South Africans, New Zealanders, Australians, West Indians and all nationalities that served.

I was a Warrant Officer in thr RAF and was proud to have met many of the Aces.

"Lest we forget!"

Great video, thanks for sharing. I've been fortunate to have seen Bob Hoover perform many times in both the Mustang "Ole' Yellow" and the Shrike Commander. A natural pilot, his energy management demos in the Shrike Commander were no less than astounding.

I was hoping someone would catch that. I've read several accounts from combat P-38 pilots and many would report, one of the favorite things they liked about flying the Lightning was it was hard to mistake it's identity. I love the picture with the F-4 Phantom. As a phormer Phantom Phixer, I have sworn at those panes more than a few times. A busted knuckle or scrape, bruise, etc... while turning wrenches on them were called Phantom bites. I still love the old F-4. Great airplane.
Also the Skyraider is an A-1E , the EA prefix would show it was an electronics warfare bird. The Air Force Skyraiders were most often used as rescue cover (RESCAP) and sent along with the big Jolly Green Helicopters . The nickname the Navy and Air Force troops used for them was SPAD after the WWI fighter , because of it's age. RESCAP birds would be referred as Sandy, for the in the weeds type of flying and fighting they did.
The A-1 is credited with a couple Mig 17 kills during the Vietnam war.
