Greetings All,

I finally decided to take the plunge and upgrade my D300s to a D800. Checking sites like Amazon and B&H, I noticed that they both offer body only and kit options – for the same price. Does anyone know why they are the same price? Is that the kit offer includes a returned camera body? I understand that some retailers consider a camera with 200 or fewer shutter releases to be “new”.

Also, I am sure that as soon as I order this, Nikon will announce a D800s, or drop the price another $300. Does anyone know if they are planning such a diabolical move anytime soon?

I wasn't aware that you could upgrade a D300 to a D800. Perhaps I can contact Nikon as to the possibility of upgrading my D50 to a D7100😊😊😊😊😊

Thanks for your input.

Please do not get the wrong idea. I did not mean to imply that Nikon was giving me an upgrade -- I simply meant that I am adding the d800 to my bag-o-tools.

Greetings Wabbit,

I was merely curious about the difference in offerings and whether or not someone knew about a Nikon sale, etc. Reason is that I never bought a “kit” before and now decided to look into them – finding very little difference and wondering “whats up”. It was never about the $3.

A friend bought his d300 right before the d300s came out – he would have waited a little bit had he known. Personally, I bought a lens right before they were put on sale only to find out the Nikon typically gives deals on lenses in March – I did not know this. Soooo I have learned to ask.

Finally, while I do understand a little about photography and cameras, I do think that I “know so much” and I feel that I can always learn something from others with similar interests. In that regard, I thank you for your input and say that I also appreciate your sense of humor.

Best.
