When I was a little kid, I brought one home for my mom. Boy, did I get in trouble. Beautiful flower and great photos. Big fan of the first photo. Wish they were rare enough to have stopped the new construction in my old neighborhood. Evidently it is OK to bulldoze them but not to pick them. Thanks for sharing.

Good lesson learned from your mom, Bill ;). The bulldozer guys play by their
own rules, unfortunately! Thanks for looking, sharing and choosing:)

why would it be "illegal" to pick them in your own yard???

Same reason we can't plant grass between our
house and the lake - preserving the clean, natural environment of
Maine. It may be a bit chilly here for taste, but it sure is
pretty, tlbuljac!

We discovered a Lady Slipper growing in our yard today, which is pretty cool considering they are rare and endangered. Since it is illegal to pick them, I took pics instead

I played around with editing them a bit - your critiques and comments are appreciated!

Very nice. I hope it spreads.

Beautiful shots, Kerry. I favor the HDR version, but like them all. Recall seeing them as a kid in the midwest, but never once since.

Thanks Treepusher! Didn't know they made it to the Midwest!

I love these. The B&W is excellent, but I love the color contrasts in the first.

Vicksart, I so appreciate your vote of confidence and weighing in on your favorites!

You live in a place very close to my heart - was board in Marin County to Stanford grads and the highlights of my life included shopping trips to the City with my favorite Palo Alto aunt - not sure how I ended up in Maine.... You are a lucky lady to live in the Bay Area!
