Nice photos, Lamar. They show great possibilities. Given the low-angle concept, your subject falls into a rather wide, narrow band near the center of your picture. Looking at your two examples, we can see the sky, or the foreground, becomes quite important.
I would suggest sticking, rather loosely, to the "rule of thirds", and put your horizon higher (to emphasize the foreground) or lower (to draw more attention to the sky) whichever is the more interesting.
I think you have an extremely captivating project set up for yourself. I wish you the best of luck, and look forward to viewing your results!

Thanks Danilo! Actually I was thinking more foreground than sky but will try both. Sometimes the surf backwash reveals some very interesting features / reflections in the sand and surf. In Cocoa Beach low tide is best for that. Now I have to watch for the right conditions. It should be a fun project and learning experience. I really appreciate your help.

Thanks Gregory! I think I may have some fun with this at the beach and just maybe get a good photo. Maybe it would be a good angle for some of rlaughs fishing buddies. :)

That would would be an excellent viewpoint

I love the angle and the reflections you got with these. They make me want to take off for the beach.

I really like these. A low angle shot does bring real interest to the scene.

I'm experimenting with low angle views of the surf. I'll be at the beach this weekend trying for images that are more interesting than these. I will appreciate any advice you can offer. Am I on the right track?

Hi Lamar, as you asked for advice, here's my input.
Both pics look good as regards exposure. I think you have that pretty well spot on.
But, looking at No 1;
The composition doesn't do it for me. One line of waves bisecting the pic right in the middle and another on a diagonal somewhere below. The middle line of surf has two breaks in it. Was this intentional? There's a little rock in the sand, bottom left. Was this intentional?
I think a little look around in the viewfinder before pushing button is needed.

No 2.
To my eye, a neater composition but not as interesting as the first pic.
But again, the composition doesn't really lift the pic, for me, above just another beach shot.

How low were you?
Perhaps you might decide, what am I trying to capture?
The surf? The clouds? Reflections? Colour contrast?
Look for any objects in the sand that might detract from the final shot,( or perhaps make them the focus of the pic.)
Both pics have a brown sort of muddy foreground, was this intentional?
To me they could help the photo but am not sure how to work them in. Maybe put them completely out of focus so they have a creamy texture?
Watch for interesting surf breaks and zoom in on them.
Maybe get down reeeelly low and make the clouds a feature with a creamy line of surf along the bottom.
Time your capture, wait for nature to do something really interesting or create a unique combo of wave form, cloud form, reflection etc. this might mean waiting, camera on tripod, for quite awhile. But when it happens and you capture it, man is that satisfying.
By the way, I maybe sound a little harsh. I don't mean to be. They are nice pics but not, to me, more than a day at the seaside.
Perhaps decide before going to the beach, what your main focus is going to be today.

I hope my words are taken as constructive. They are just my opinion of course and I may get beaten up for them. Hope not.
Finally, looks like you live in a beautiful location and I did get that from the pics :)
Cheers

IN my opinion...getting low is very important for these types of shots...you HAVE to include some foreground interest or the shots get boring.

Thanks! I'm eager to put this great advice to work but very windy on the beach today. Maybe tomorrow.
