I'm experimenting with low angle views of the surf. I'll be at the beach this weekend trying for images that are more interesting than these. I will appreciate any advice you can offer. Am I on the right track?

Looking good.

Try bigger waves, like you have control over that.

Also, slower exposures, like a few seconds. You'll probably need a tripod, and an ND filter.

Watch out for that sea spray and sand. They can wreak havoc on your camera. A rain cover or wrap might help a lot. Also, despite a recent post, a UV filter may provide good protection.

Looks good but try with 2/3 of sky..Note of caution ,take the wife, she can stand on your back and whip the camera to safety when a wave comes in. I assume you have life insurance but not for the camera :-)

Big waves with a strong west wind to blow back the tops of the waves would be good. I'll order that right away. :)

Thanks for your help...I'll try slower exposures....gives me an excuse to get that ND filter.

Thanks Bigal....2/3 sky and put the wife to work...she will love standing on my back. :)

Actually I was using my T3...I left the 7D in a safe place. I used a table top tripod and cable release. One hand on the trigger and the other on the camera. Not too risky.

Thanks Gregory! I think I may have some fun with this at the beach and just maybe get a good photo. Maybe it would be a good angle for some of rlaughs fishing buddies. :)

Awesome tip.
Practice rule of thirds.

Keep with the diagonals, like #1. More power, which is what waves are all about, IMHO.
