Has anyone had experience with this carrying strap.
We are limited in the range we can get here in NZ and I'm looking for
something suitable for a D300s wearing an 80-200 2.8 lens on long uphill walks.
Price for one of these in NZ is $130.
Optech and Blackrapid are really expensive in NZ$.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

Yes many have, it's one of those that attaches to the tripod bush, slowly comes lose and the camera falls to the ground

loads of posts camera manufacturers do not advise attaching straps to the tripod bush, Up strap never slip of your shoulder try running with an elastic optec bounces all over the place, Upstrap are rock solid and strong

Well...If I'm running...I'm holding or steadying my camera :)

But...I did look at the Upstrap...they look great BUT...do they make a heavy duty one where it only attaches to the camera on one side?

Lol...we are smart enough to hold the camera when we do!

But seriously...I don't like the way the upstrap hangs...since the camera is connected at both strap points, the camera hangs "lens pointing out" whereas the Optech hangs "tucked into thigh" which I like.

IF I COULD attach the Upstrap to only one camera lug...I'd buy one today.

I use OpTech exclusively and just spent 3 days RUNNING all over the Special Olympics taking literally THOUSANDS of shots with two Nikon D800's and lenses on the OpTech Double Sling. Not a bit of a problem. In fact, if it were not for the give and the comfort of the OpTech system I am sure there would have been no way I could have carried two D800 setups for 14 hours a day!!
Nothing out there that will compare to OpTech's offering as, and I have tried them all.
Black Rapid? They are OK, but the tripod socket attachment design is seriously flawed. One should NEVER attach a strap to the bodies tripod socket. As for attaching the strap to the tripod collar of a lens that has one? I think that is just fine and have done so. I have (and sell in my store) the Caden Double Strap which attaches to the tripod socket. I sell them as well as rent then with the strong warning that you attach them ONLY to the tripod collar of the lens, and NEVER to the camera body.

Unfortunately, my legs won't cooperate....
But I have an Optec, love it, and don't see a problem when walking, running, standing, sitting, whatever.
There's not a bit of stretchy material on it!

Thanks JR. Have researched some old Posts since I put my question and see there's been a lot of debate about this.
The market here is so small for specialised sort of stuff like this that either you can't get it here or it is expensive.
Can get from australia but with the $ exchange rate it is also expensive.
Cheers

I'm an Optech user and I love their connection system (quick release connected to the camera at only one lug point) and I emailed them this morning about how the Upstrap connects (one end of the strap to each lug, like a stock camera strap.)

I noticed that with the Upstrap, the camera hangs "lens out" from the body, whereas the Optech strap has the camera hanging "lens tucked into" the thigh when I wear it.

I asked them if it was possible to connect the Upstrap in the same manner, and their answer was no, and that they wouldn't recommend trying.

I'm sticking with my Optech.
