I shoot with a Nikon because it is all I have ever shot with. I personnel feel you do not need to explain what you shoot with. Just go out and have fun.

I use Nikon because way down deep inside everyone knows that Nikon is the better camera. :shock: :roll: :lol:

I chose nikon for two reasons.
1. It was more cost effective for me at the time I was purchasing a dslr. (I could not find a used canon for the money I had at the moment with the same features)
2. There appeared to be more older nikon lens that will fit and work, though some are manual. (It appears there is more selection to choose from on the used market)
I could easily be wrong on both, as I joined this forum after I bought a dslr, and I am sure someone on here say so.
Just my opinion.

I have heard from a reliably Camera Store Employee that God uses Nikon. :)

Seriously, I chose Nikon because I had a decent selection of Nikon Lenses. You really cannot go wrong selecting either of the two brands. If you are planning on doing a lot of video work than Canon may be the better choice.

When I looked for my digital cameras, I looked FIRST for the cameras that would satisfy my requirements for size, mp rating, controls, overall quality, etc. Then I looked deeper into how the options were implemented. Ultimately I chose what felt best in MY hands and still gave the results I was looking for. ALMOST went with Nikon for the P510, but did not like the movement of the LCD so went with Canon SX40, followed this year by the SX50. NEVER regretted my choice!!

Now if Sony, Olympus, Nikon or any other company had given me the same capabilities for 'close' to the same price, and same type of camera, and the same quality, I may very well have chosen one of them.
