Hi, could someone please advise me on how to remove unwanted elements from photographs? I have both light room 3 and photo shop 11 elements. I mainly use L-R 3 but I find it leaves small visable circles with clone and heal brush and really not got to grips with elements , I unistalled the program. Thanxs in advance. Downloaded examples of what I am trying to remove. branches obscuring herons.

About four minutes with PSE 11 using the clone/healing tool and the stamp tool. They're not perfect, but . . .

You need to reload PSE11 and watch a few YouTube videos of how to use it.

It has its quirks but I find it or Corel's PaintShop Pro X4 or X5 to do the jobs admirably without breaking the bank purchasing software.

Would rather spend my money on hardware.

One advantage to Photoshop Elements 11, besides a relatively low price, is the amazing number of learning resources.

The PS clone stamp works fine, Just be sure you set the size of the brush to an appropriate diameter. It's also good to magnify the image on screen while you are working on it. If there is still a problem after that, it usually can be fixed with either the blur or smudge tools.

When cloning, use a soft edged brush to prevent the obvious cloned areas.

Also in this case, try a plug-in for elements 11 called wire worm. Just google it for the link.

Many ways to get rid of the branches. I used Move tool in CS5 to highlight an area of good sky, then using move tool I hold down "alt" and drag copy to cover the branch area. Release mouse then "alt" drag again to next spot. Once all branches are gone I used paint brush at low opacity, and selecting color that would blend the spots that I am working on, then just brush till the areas are the same. For area close to the bird I just used the paint brush at a higher opacity and a hard brush (1 step down from the hardest), selecting the color right close to where I am working. Hope this helps you.

Big, if you shoot Canon, the free DPP that came with it will remove the stuff pretty well. I don't know Nikon's product.
But Big, if you are passing this work off as nature, it's a no-no to alter that much. Just saying
