In fact the above describes most of the troopers in my various units.
It is hard to pull the trigger. It is the most difficult thing to train a soldier to do.
So if you get a gun and think that you will just simply pull the weapon out of its holster and shoot someone, I can almost assure you that you will not!
On the other hand, you may get real angry and pull the gun out and shoot and go to prison for a long long time!
So before you arm yourself really be sure you know yourself.
Guns are dangerous even in the hands of those who have owned them for a life time.
I always ask the question of those who espouse the bravado in these discussions: Have you ever shot at someone or been shot at?
Most on this site are nice people. They are folks ... (

Will answer them in reverse order
Yes, I was shot at and shot at people, and in the previous stated also called in air, mortor, and artillery ordenance upon the enemy. Which were real live people. All of which was very effective, becasue for the most part, they stopped shooting at us.
Agreed owning a gun is dangerous business, and longevity of ownership is not really involved with safety. Safety comes from the individual responsibility.
I totally agree you must really know yourself when it comes to the difference from owning and using a gun especially on a person. You have to be responsible for your actions.
The next two contradict each. On one hand you have the person too timid to do anything, the next the person is quick tempered and pulls a gun at the drop of a hat. How about me - I'm neither of these.
As for hard to pull the trigger, if its me or my family its not hard at all. If its so hard why do many police shoot at a perp. When they come to a screeaching halt in the squad car they hop out and start shooting. I don't see any hesitation on their part. Over the years I have read many a story in the paper where the police have thought a person had a gun and started shooting only to find out it was a wallet, or a cell phone or a pen in their hard. But they got off because they feared for their life.
A gun is a responsibility. But to pass laws because of felons upon lawabiding people is wrong.

"If you are for gun control, then you are not against guns, because the guns will be needed to disarm people. So its not that you are anti-gun.
Youll need the polices guns to take away other peoples guns. So youre very Pro-gun, you just believe that only government (which is, of course, so reliable, honest, moral and virtuous
) should be allowed to have guns.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GUN CONTROL. There is only centralizing ownership in the hands of a small, political elite and their minions." Stefan Molyneux
