We are technically still at war with N. Korea but we have done nothing but assist S. Korea in maintaining the truce line. The only shots exchanged since the armistice have been fired by N. Korea. Perhaps you can explain in detail exactly how the U.S. is "antagonising" N. Korea.

Probably by existing!

I think the comment is uncalled for.

what the hell are we doing to antagonize N Korea ..??

Ahhh yes, The evil US has made North Korea publish books for their people on how to prepare and eat grass so they don't starve to death. Have you seen the images from space at night? A country where people disappear and no one knows about it, for any reason. Where their leader combs his hair straight up like a muppet, so he appears taller as well as their military Hats and medals and has the largest military in the world, all while its people starve to death. Meanwhile, just over the southern border, the very same people, the same everything, is thriving. This is the most ridiculous poor excuse for a country that ever was. And some here blame the US..?

The Korea we did have influence with is doing quite well.

This is all a infantile display of stomping their feet so they can get the world to give them stuff. Aid in the past is simply directed to the ruling classes and the military. I say starve them, don't nuke 'em.

But what should we do if they shoot first? The rest of the third world, especially those trying to get the bomb, are watching closely, they will learn by how we act when threatened by nuclear war just as they have learned what happens to dictators that don't have one.

How things go in the world depends on what we ALL do there- everyone in the world... right now. The stakes are very high.

I think your post is nonsense. If this regime wanted war, we've still got the Afgan one. We could just stay there longer. We could also trump up something more in Iraq. Then there is also Iran. Getting rid of their nuclear capabilities would be doing the world a service. In short, I think this regime does not want a new war, and is working to avoid it, but would reluctantly get into one if NECESSARY.

Another war would be used to help decimate our underfunded military. With our troops so busy in so many other places, what a great time to get those foreign troops here to confiscate firearms (and anything else they want.) I believe that for the first time in History, there will be fighting on American soil.

This photo of all the officers with their medals looks like something out of a satirical movie. I wonder if they know how silly they look. I wonder if any of them have ever privately thought that.

I actually think that China might overthrow this fool before they let that happen. They have indicated that they do not want war on their doorstep.

It gives me heart that there are some amongst us that that are reasoned and understand history. I consider myself lucky to have been born in a country (Australia) where as a nation we see ourselves as a friend to those that will accept us. And God help those that attack us. As an individual I share those views. I am a product of my environment and proud of it. Might I add too, those in glass houses should not throw stones. Take note Nth Korea. After 50 years you still 'don't get it!' Well said patcam.

I have to admit, I have the occasional stray thought that not only would this be a reasonable solution for North Korea, but Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan as well. Then reality sets back in :( .

My biggest fear from North Korea is that that young fool will eventually let his alligator mouth and BS rhetoric back himself into a corner where he has no options but to start a fight or be removed from office (which would typically come complete with a bullet in the back of his head). The big problem here is he HAS continued testing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. He may not be able to launch a warhead very far, but he CAN launch one. So while we may intellectually understand his rhetoric is the rantings and ravings of a spoiled little brat, he can't be ignored either.

I'm completely convinced that by the time 18 months from now as passed, we will have increased our number of troops in South Korea. We are already committing to increasing our presence in Japan. Will there be a war? I hope not, but my son will be in the US Marines Aug. or Sept. of this year, so I expect I will have a vested interest in keeping an eye what transpires there for the next few years.

I agree with you. We always wait til it's too late to stop anything before it begins. We knew about Bin Laden before he hit the Trade Towers but waited til he brought the fight to us before doing anything. Then had to spend years and millions to hunt him down and end his life. Why can't we go in and get rid of this character in N Korea BEFORE he does the same thing? I'm hoping we never see it but I honestly think the day is coming where the fighting will be here on our soil. All because we wait.............Doesn't our government understand that weight broke the wagon and we're the wagon?

From a recent editorial "the problem dealing with a person who behaves like he is crazy is that he just might be crazy". Kim is unpredictable at best. The answer lies in what he really believes. If Kim Jong Un really believes in his heart that he can intimidate and compromise the security of the United States, then the worst may be ahead. If he is simply thumping his chest to establish his position in North Korea, than the world may yet absorb another of his crazy antics. I'm not a betting man. I would stay on alert and be prepared for any necessary appropriate response.

I have always maintained a respect for Australians but... My question to patcam was "exactly how have we antagonized N. Korea?" Now you say we "don't get it". So, since patcam hasn't been able to answer the question I'll put it to you: What exactly don't we get? How are we antagonizing N. Korea?

Ted, I think he was referring to N. Korea as the people who "don't get it." But I am not sure.

My question is, does this young man understand the realities of the situation?
Or has he been so indoctrinated with his own invincibility, and that of N Korea, that he is unaware of the power that would be set against him.

Some young men play with guns, but he is able to play with a nation.

I too pray that China will bring him into reality before it is too late.
