What you guys don't get is that violent crime and homicides go way down when you remove guns from the equation. Tried, tested and proven over long periods of time in every advanced democracy it has been tried.

So in these countries attacks are rarer, the police have far, far less violent crime to respond to which might explain why response times tend to be lower despite lower manning levels in most of these countries. (I exclude Australia where the distances between police stations can be vast)

Why continue to support an anachronistic amendment which by its very wording tells you it is obsolete unless you happen to believe in civil war as a reasonable alternative to democracy?

A personal freedom ceases to have primacy when it impinges too significantly on others. The freedom to bear arms in the US costs 30000 lives per year and impacts directly 10 times that number. Millions more are impacted in their daily lives by the increasing siege mentality.

Thousands of small towns across the World have little or no crime. It is ridiculous to suggest that no crime in this town is because idiots have mandated gun ownership.

What's the problem? Obama required everyone to buy a product or be fined. His product was insurance. This towns product is a gun. Now one could rightfully argue that those two products have little in common and stand in stark contrast to each other. One is intended to save a life the other is intended to pay your healthcare bills. LOL. But all joking aside, they are both products - commerce - that a governmental institution has mandated be purchased as a result of no action taken by a person other than being born.

FBI stats show hammers and clubs kill more people than rifles

January 4, 2013 by Janeen Capizola 33 Comments

Well, well, what do we have here, Sen. Dianne Feinstein? An article by Breitbart.com’s AWR Hawkins says that, according to FBI murder statistics, more murders are committed with hammers than with rifles.

Kind of puts a nail in Feinstein’s argument that it’s important to get “dangerous weapons of war” off the streets, doesn’t it?

Feinstein, the driving force behind the original assault weapons ban that lasted from 1994 to 2004, said she would introduce legislation to the new Congress calling for a new, more aggressive weapons ban in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

The FBI statistics, from 2005 to 2011, show that more people were killed with “blunt instruments” like hammers and clubs than by rifles, which is what Feinstein wishes to ban again.

Hawkins wrote:

For example, in 2011, there were 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs. While the FBI makes is clear that some of the ‘murder by rifle’ numbers could be adjusted up slightly, when you take into account murders with non-categorized types of guns, it does not change the fact that their annual reports consistently show more lives are taken each year with these blunt objects than are taken with Feinstein’s dreaded rifle.

Feinstein may want to take a look at those numbers. Better yet, have her take a look at the fact that in 2011, more than double the amount of people killed with rifles were killed by — wait for it — “personal weapons” like hands and feet. She needs to realize we need our rifles for self-defense against people with hands and hammers.

She isn't interested in stats. She's a liberal who wants to rule the world any way she can. The Constitution doesn't matter to those 'people'.

[quote=Black Bart]Average response time of police in America is 23 minutes.
Response time of a 357 is 1400 fps.[/qu

I could be in trouble as my wait time is only 1200 fps! 8-)

Agree 100%. Asked my wife what will you do if someone breaks into our home....take it on good faith they won't hurt you? I've taught her how to SAFELY use my 20 gauge shotgun to defend herself if necessary. She understands now our gun is as safe as the person using it. 8-)

I would like to do the same, but my wife is a liberal and depends on the government to keep her safe.

I however, live in the real world.

I don't know where you live but in small town's they can't afford a 'police force'.

If everyone has a gun the folk who rob and steal know they are at risk. Hopefully they will think twice. (Of course some won't.)

Yes, to answer the unasked question ...The is a lot of home invasion in small towns. Because they are small towns usually you don't hear about the.... Ron

or the nanny stater's (Bloomberg, etal) or power grabber's and their ilk. And, as someone else implied to be able to make a stand against tyranny, if only token. What does HHS need a million rounds of ammunition for?

The liberals plan is to buy up all of the ammo they can to keep it out of the people's hands even if they never use it.

I agree we should all go back to what the founding fathers believed in. Bring back the Militia law of 1792. This called for free citizens (slaves were not included) to have a gun and enough ammunition to drill and train for defense. I think it would be a good idea for all citizens to train on weekends to protect ourselves.

Town in US orders residents to own a gun

"Every household in the town of Nelson in the US state of Georgia has been ordered to own a gun.

A new law just passed by the local council makes it mandatory for the head of every household to possess a firearm and ammunition.

The vote was unanimous. "We're making a statement," said city council member Jackie Jarrett. "If you plan on doing us harm, we'll be armed."

Can someone enlighten me as to who or what the town council think they need protecting against or are they planning a Switzerland type militia? :!: :?:

Meanwhile - in Maine a similar proposed law has been rejected.

If your thinking of breaking into a house and you know that the owner has a gun are you going to pick another house, DUH!
Similar a few years back a town required all parked cars to have a club type device on the steering wheel to prevent theft, auto theft dropped to almost zero, thieves went elsewhere.
