Digital photography: The 3 major players.
I was putzing around the Plaza in Kansas City Friday afternoon. There were a ton of tourists everywhere.
Then I noticed something. All of the Japanese tourists had Sony cameras. I took a few more than what you see here but I did not like the pics.
It went like this:
#1. Nikon.
#2. Canon.
#3 Sony.
All of these were shot with a Sony.

The Sony pic looks cold, the Nikon pic looks good but I like the warmth of the Canon shot, mind you I'm biased I shoot Canon

I agree. The Pic of the lady with the Canon Is the best of the bunch. But remember, I shot this with my Sony a580 using my Sony 75-300mm lens. Lol. I really enjoy that photo.

True, but it is the background that gives the warmth and her smile and her.

I agree here also. I really like photos like this. There is so much to them. They tell a story in and of themselves.
Nice shots, Tom! Shooting people shooting people

I really do like the middle one. Everything just looks so right about it.
It seems like you are slamming Sony with these images? N & C both show DSLR and Sony shows a P&S. N & C make P&S camera also.
Or maybe you are showing what Sony can do since both the N & C DSLR's have parts made by Sony.
Some more clarification is appreciated.

Are you kidding me? I love Sony. Just look at that middle picture! I took that with my a580 using my Sony 75-300mm lens. I was simply making quantifying observations.

Hey tainkc... Now i get it. Hmmmmm. You are showing people using all three makes of cameras. Oh BTW, I am a volunteer at the Getty Museum, and we do get an enormous amount of Asian visitors. I have noted (because i use Canon) that most of the cameras the Asian visitors use are Canon and Nikon point and shoot cameras. And of others, about 50/50 use the Nikon or Canon dslr's. But there are not that many sony's.

Interesting about the Japanese and Sonys, versus Rich's point about 'Asians' using Canons and Nikons almost exclusively.
Begs an off-topic question, as regards a post here a month or two back. Our British friends most emphatically do not consider themselves Europeans, even to the point of anger at such insinuation.
Do the Japanese, another island nation, consider themselves as Asians? Or do they react like the British? We are Japanese, first, last, always, and not Asians?
Are the Sony-carrying Japanese reacting adversely to the 'Asian' contingent using Nikons and Canons and showing their own independence?

Hmmmm, a good question. Maybe I should have said, We get a lot of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean visitors...... instead of grouping everyone as "Asians." i do stand corrected and apologize if i offended anyone.

One thing I have learned.. shot with what makes you good and don't listen to anyone else,,,,,
to many camera snobs out there....
Any way... Sony makes a lot of parts and sensors that are used inside Nikon cameras.....
