Ditto:

Blessings and thanks to the Veterans AND their families who give of themselves, so that we might have the freedoms we have.

Thanks to all that served or are now serving. I was in the Navy, had two brothers that served, one Navy, one Air Force, a son that was in the Gulf War, another son that has been in Iraq twice and Afghanistan once, now serving at the Pentagon, and a grandson who came back from Iraq a year ago.

I Did a small part for the USN - 1973-1979. Viet-Nam was over, soldiers and sailors were coming home,Uncle Sam had nowhere to send me so I stayed Stateside and filled a billet. Wasn't treated very well but I would Not give up the experience for anything. It taught me a lot. My small part was nothing compared to those who gave it all and to those who were there. I give All Honor and my sincere Gratitude to those men and women who were able to serve in a true soldier and sailor capacity. Thank You So Much!!!! As far as Malice toward our Government--- I leave them in the hands of God. He will Judge them with a righteous hand. If we all would do as our Lord Jesus would have us do, "to Love one another as he has Loved us," this world would be such a wonderful place to live. There would be no Lies, no Disrespect, no Hatred, no Malice, no Envy, no War, etc., etc.. Wow!, wouldn't that be Awesome?

A small bit of irony ... the local VA medical clinics are closed today, in honor of those they serve. I'm pretty sure the larger hospital facilities are operating as normal, as they have more urgent care patients to assist today.

As an Air Force veteran, thank you to all that acknowledge the service and the sacrifice that the men and women in (and out) of uniform have made and continue to make. I, too, was angry, but not at the government, but those that spat upon servicemen and women returning from service in Viet Nam. Frankly, I believethat that was the most shameful period in our short history. I decided to serve our vets and am now working at the VA Medical Center in Baltimore. I figured that the best way to change things was from the inside. Sure, there are things that cannot be done, but our veteran population keeps on growing and our funding continues to be cut. I don't use that as an excuse, I'm just stating reality. I give these guys my best, I will accept NO LESS than what I would want for my father (WW II vet) or myself.
The government does need to quit talking out of both sides of their mouth and make good on the promises that have been made.

My father served in World War II and survived and I'm so glad that everything you are all doing even though it's a war we should have never been in.

Thank you for your post Hipfarmchick! I am a very proud U.S. Navy Veteran and your sincere message means more than you will ever know. I saw many Sailors and Naval Aviators pay the ultimate price to preserve our freedom and liberty, and they did so with honor. I feel bad that your post was met by someone with such venom and disrespect. We had a saying in the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet. We are here on duty so that our families, friends, and fellow citizens can "sleep tight". Thank you again for your kind words!
