Biden Stays at London, Paris Hotels; Two Nights, $1 Million
Vice President Joe Bidens one-day trips to Paris and London in February cost American taxpayers more than $1 million, according to multiple reports.
Biden and his security detail rung up a $585,000.50 tab for a single night on Feb. 4 at the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, a luxurious five-star hotel near the Louvre Museum, The Weekly Standard reports.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail in London reports that Bidens group spent $459,388.65 for one night on Feb. 5 at the Hyatt Regency in London, where the vice president met with Prime Minister David Cameron.
The contract for the London trip specified that Bidens crew required 136 hotel rooms for that one-night stay, The Daily Mail reports.
Bidens wife, Dr. Jill Biden, accompanied him to Paris on his European trip, which also included a stop in Germany.
The Mail reports that Bidens entourage required more than 100 rooms at Le Grand. One night in the presidential suite there costs more than $3,800.

Whenever they travel and stay overnight, the SS books the entire floor that they are staying on for security purposes. So if there are 100 rooms on that floor the 100 rooms are rented.

While you are to be commended for trying to stay off welfare the rules on withdrawing money from IRA's are very clear as to tax liabilities. I am surprised that the people you had your IRA with didn't inform you of these taxes when you withdrew the money and subtracted them from the amount you withdrew. Either that or they took it out but the amount deducted was in error due to a low estimate of taxes owed.

Oh I had the what I thought was the pre-requisite amount of federal and state taxes withheld when I withdrew the money. Apparently it wasn't enough to cover Joe Biden's $1MM two-day stay in Paris while I'm still struggling to find a job at the age of 56 in a down economy with unemployment at near double digit figures.

I think I've read that if you were drawing unemployment for 6 moths or more before the IRA withdrawal that might make a difference. Be worth checking with a tax guru. :thumbup:
