How cute, Kerry!

C & C please. Is it a keeper? How can I improve the composition and/or post processing. It is cropped a bit and I gave it a bit of an S curve in Aperture 3.

If you hit the down load and drag that picture to the desktop, it should be a big file when you drop it in Aperture. It fills my screen on the down load.
But I just play with the sliders till I get what I want.:) On this one I added brightness, contrast, shadows, definition and sharpened it. Shadows brought out the details.

Don't laugh to hard. But this is the best I could do. But it did bring the bird out a little better.:) I just like to play. One of these days I have to get a real program to play with.:) Thanks for letting me play.:):)

Erv, you gave it just what it needed! The brightness you brought out is perfect for the lightheartedness of the photo.
I uploaded your version into Aperture, but it was a tiny file. Can you tell me your secret?
Thanks!
Kerry

Erv, I tried that several times and it all works perfectly except for the file size. I clearly need to retire so I can have time to focus on important things like this AND learn photoshop ... But then how would I fund my photog addiction???! Anyway I love what you did, and I'll play with the sliders to approximate your results. Thanks - you're simply da best!

Thanks so much, Donna - sometimes pretty cute, trumps technically correct. Working on the latter ;)

Birds out just a bit Kerry.

Thanks for your input UP-2-IT. By "out just a bit", do you mean out of focus? If that is the case, I guess I'll have to leave tonight's Maine blizzard behind and return to Hawaii to try again. I wish!! About ready to move south...

Cute and very colorful! Great shot. Don't know if some high-pass filtering might help sharpen the bird, but it's still an awfully appealing photo.

I adore the composition, great color and light. Unfortunately, the focus is not on the bird's head. Great shot.

tk - You're are so right, I missed the focus, but loved the composition! One of these days I'll nail both in the same shot :) Thanks for commenting :)

Thank you so much, Treepusher. High-pass filtering is not in my repertoire yet ;-) Someday, meanwhile I'm practicing nailing the focus!
