Time is money. 29 cents a scan is cheap. I now use only high quality mail order scans and printing, for me way cheaper and far better. Computer images and paper prints are not the same. Apples and oranges. Quality is in the eye of the beholder.
At 29 cents a scan that's what you are going to get, an as is scan and photo. My Canon Prixma Pro 8500 Mark II printer prints with pigmented ink, that will last at least as long as a negative photo print, estimated to be about 100 years. If you are satisifed with 29 cent photos...go for it.
I'm retired, and not worried about saving $29.00.....for a 100 prints. You get what you pay for!
