I don't know about the lens, but I'm impressed you got such great detail! Other than a strong backlight, dappled sunlight on a bird with snow in the background, and it all works !!!! Well done, Bret !

Thank you all for the comments. To me...I think #2 is almost over exposed...I should have adjusted a small amount after he left the shaded area and then up to that perch. I think I was about 6 maybe 7 feet away in a blind. These where taken with the D5100.

Yes, I am thinking you are in a blind if you are trying to shoot birds with 200mm ! Nice shots! According to Ken Rockwell, this lens is one of sharpest on the planet and it is what he uses for 90% of his studio work.

Very pretty, Bret. Wish we had song sparrows here.

Just got this late yesterday....Nikon 200mm F4 macro lens. So this afternoon took it out and watched Mr Cardinal prance about before all the snow melts. I think If I practice some more I'll be ready by the time the bugs start showing up...lol

These are beautiful Bret. I have a Sigma 150 2.8. I don't think I have ever taken it out for anything but macro work (up close and personal)...which it does well. But I am excited to see what you have done with yours. I see in the discussions that you gave some of the meta data, which helps me. Do you have any words of wisdom should I decide to use mine "out in the field"? You have gotten my creative mind working and want to get at it! LOL!
