donnabyrd,

Go to http://albumshaper.sourceforge.net/ and click on Reveal 1.2 about half way down the page on the left in blue. It will automatically download a great free program for shutter count (actuations) and all kinds of EXIF data about your image. I believe you can use it for jpeg, raw, tiff, and maybe bmp images. I think it is cross platform and will work for Windows and Mac. There are 3 other free programs that may be of use to you on that linked page http://albumshaper.sourceforge.net/. I know it works great for my D800 images on my Macbook Pro. :-)

pigpen,

Once you open Reveal, just drop an image in the Reveal Window. Click to the "Details" tab and shutter count is about the 10th item UP from the Bottom. You have to drop an original image - not a Post Processed image. Also, I guess it doesn't work with .psd images (Photoshop Images). Let me know if you succeed. Thanks.

Read my post here:

If you're in Denver I am always willing to meet with a laptop that has the software required to give you the count.

I can't get it to work, I've tried several images, all unedited. Thanx.

PigPen - Are you using a Mac or a Windows PC? I can't figure out why it's not working for you - truly puzzled?

The reason you don't get shutter count out of Canon pictures is because Canon does not put the shutter count in the EXIF data.

RocketScientist,

That sure would explain it! Thanks for the information - I shoot Nikon and never did anything with Canon. Wonder why they don't include it in the EXIF data? I hope PigPen sees your post, if not, I'll send him a message telling him what you said. Thanks very much. :-)
