Sorry my friend but YOUR problems in the Middle East come from your desire/need to control the world's oil resources. Nothing else.

Hi GWR, I agree with your sentiments and do feel like you do from time to time. Unfortunately there are a very small percentage of members who love to create aggravation, especially the "wabbit" type, We have the odd one in the UK as well, you will know who I mean!!!
Let's just ignore them and they will go away.
How about a UK group!!

Hi Johneccles, I agree with you and confess to some rather "robust" responses to postings. Trouble is that I am very proud of being British and get dfeeply offended by the Wabbit type of comments.

In my defence I would only say that "robust" comments are in response to insults against my nation, my Queen, etc. She is of course always in the position of being unable to respond to insult and personal attack. That, I guess, is why the likes of Wabbit (and his bearded co-thinker - if that's not too big a word for him ) enjoy their insulting attacks on her and the rest of the British nation.

If they would only stop to work it out they would discover that much of what they like to think of as "their" civilisation stems from the British and other European immigrants who founded their country. As for the bearded one's recent jibe about being energy-independent, that, like so much of America's prosperity comes not from their ingenuity but simply from accidents of geography, geology, etc. which gifted them so much.

Hey, John, I'm not a Brit basher, I'm a John Evans basher. As you'll note from a previous post, my bashes came in response to a couple of arrogant unnamed Brits. Well, now one of them is named. As far as our prosperity being geographically related, well, Britain understands not having geographic prosperity since it attempted it make the world's riches her own for so long until the colonies became independent. Thankfully, we were the first to shake off those imperialistic shackles. As far as the Queen and Prince...they're class acts. Sincerely El Beardo

Hi SteveR, You know, there are or have been, times when I find/found myself agreeing with you. When I have, I acknowledge the fact. However, patience grows thin when subjected to continuous attacks by the like of the Wabbit loon. Then, we feel we have no option but to bite back.

Maybe you and I could declare a truce ??? But please lay off my Queen.

I have had the privilege and pleasure of meeting her and also Prince Charles (twice). I owe her my loyalty and, in addition, have a great deal of time for him. He has done much good for ordinary people in the UK and receives insufficient recognition for that. Like me he is also a countryman and has a similar outlook to myself in many matters.

I personally know at least one guy who obtained business start-up assistance from the Trust created by Charles and who now operates at a pretty senior level in the civil engineering industry. Charles keeps a low profile in such matters. When he does become King he will prove to be a wise and caring individual. He also enjoys shooting - a hobby which I also share, although I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for it nowadays; wonder if the NRA nutcases realise that ??

sorry my friend but the US has more oil resources in the country then the middle east. It was British colonialism, that ran the middle east. And it was an Englishman by the name of Lawrence who fanned the flaims of arab nationalism during WW1 that has created a very unstable middle east.

Then there was the UK and France's need for vengance on Germany at the end of WW1 that set up the conditions for the rise of Hitler and WW2

John....You must have me confused with somebody else. I never have said anything against the queen. She's the epitome of dignity. I don't know who could follow her footsteps. I've even watched portions of her coronation. Quite impressive.

I take extreme exception to you uttering un-substantiated claims that 'English People" were responsible for the Bay Disaster. I am English and I had nothing to do with the incident. If I recall it was a company called BP, which once stood for British Petroleum. Sadly like so many BRITISH companies they have been taken over by capitalist ventures away from my country, and are nothing to do with the UK other than by name. I have loved posting photos on on UHH and through it I have met so many decent, like minded North Americans as well as many good people from around the world. But I have just had enough of a few uneducated, infantile people who people from the US A who continually past incorrect and inflammatory remarks about My country and my fellow citizens. Perhaps if you took more notice of what was going on in the real world instead of listening to the mostly historically incorrect view of Hollywoods version of World History then these venomous incorrect statements would not grace the pages of an otherwise superb forum for like-minded people who love the art of photography. I am extremely proud to be English and and as a Britain I will defend our name as well as those in Scotland, Wales and Ireland who have sent our young men to assist the USA in there sometime ill advised ventures into other counties on many occasions. I am fed up with Brit and English bashing by some sad people in your country.

I would like to apologize for what other people said; I'm guessing by the most recent post, this is partly in reference to the oil disaster in the Gulf. I haven't read any of the other negative posts, and I probably wouldn't want to. One thing I know, people in my country should realize what a friend and unflinching ally we have in Great Britain.
