This is all in the 5DIV manual. "Just saying."

I just returned from that exact cruise 2 weeks ago. Our stateroom was on the starboard side. Unbelievable views from our balcony. Glacier Bay was breathtaking. Be prepared to run from side to side so you won't miss anything. This time of year it stays light all day. I took beautiful handheld mountain shots at ISO 100 at 2:00am. Denali State Park is beautiful. We had too many clouds to see Mt Denali (McKinley), but they said on a clear day you can see it. I would have liked to have seen more wildlife, but that's just a matter of luck. Some people saw a lot of wildlife. I used two lenses. 24-70 F2.8 and 70-200 F4. Everything I did was handheld. On excursions I believe I personally would not have been able to keep up if I was messing with a tripod, although a monopod would have been useful. The tram ride up the mountain in Juneau is very cheep and the views are breathtaking. I loved it. I loved the riverboat ride in Fairbanks. So many photo opportunities and very educational. The entertainment is great with terrific stage lighting. It's a lot of fun and challenging taking pictures of that. Everything about this trip was superb. You will love it. Have a great time!

I bought 2 Wasabi batteries for my Canon 5D mk4 because they are so much cheaper than the Canon brand. I believe they are perfectly safe to use, but for me they don't hold the charge nearly as long the OEM battery. I shoot large raw and write to two cards. Where I get upwards of 300 shots with the Canon battery, I get about 80 with the Wasabi. I guess maybe it depends on the camera and on what settings you are shooting.

I was not allowed to take photos at either of my daughters' weddings. My wife wouldn't have it. Keep in mind that if you are behind the camera the whole time you are missing the beauty of the whole wedding. I wanted my focus (no pun intended) on my daughters not my f-stops and shutter speeds. Just a thought. In any event, congrats! have a great time.

For me the key to good portraiture is having the ability to get your subject(s) very comfortable with you and themselves. Relaxed and in a good humorous mood....having a good time. Enjoying the experience. It will show in the images. For me this is the hardest part. The photographer's personality is far more important than his/her technical knowledge. If I had a better, outgoing personality I would be a much better "picture taker." All the rest can be learned. I love taking portraits when I get the opportunity. I find this genre more challenging than the others.

I have photographed it. That and almost everything around the Tetons is a photographer's paradise. It's all so majestic any time of year.

I love B&W also. If you use Photoshop, search for Scott Kelby's books on Photoshop and tutorials. He has many very easy to follow techniques for converting to B&W to achieve the results you desire. You can create images far better than what you get right out of the camera shooting in monochrome mode. Have fun! Also, check out Infra-Red techniques. I know the IR fade has past, but I still love the effect. Hope that helps.

I made one purchase with them. A Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC (G1 ) lens. They were very easy to work with. I had the lens in a couple of days. This is my only purchase with them. but I would do business with them again. I'm sure you have read the reviews.

Thanks, but the lenses I use are already downloaded. The six lenses the dialog tells me to download are lenses I do not own and have never used. That's what confuses me. I have no idea where DxO is getting info on these lenses. Definitely not from the images I have put into the program for processing. I have now heard back from DxO. They're asking me to tell them what exact lenses I use and they will try to get to the cause of the problem. I really appreciate your feedback. Hopefully DxO can figure it out. Many thanks.

Thanks. But I'm confused because I've only had the program for about a month and downloaded only images from my camera lens combos. I realize I can uncheck the box in the corner, but then if I use a camera+lens combo in the future that I have never used before, will the program still prompt me to download the new module?

For those that use DxO Optics Pro 11, have you experienced the following?: When bringing in photos to the program for processing I frequently get DxO's module dialog telling me what modules I need to download to process my images. I have already downloaded all the lenses and camera combinations I have used. The dialog shows six lenses + my camera combinations that I have never used. I don't know why the program does this or if it effects the image processing. I have submitted a support ticket to DxO but have not hear from them yet. I've attached a screenshot of the dialog. Many thanks for any help or explanation.

I've heard the same about Seagate, but I own 4 portables and except for the enclosure that broke on one (easily replaced), I've never had a problem.

I think I'm going to save my DxO files as jpg because the DxO.dng files are huge. a 30MP file was well over 200MB!! I always permanently save the original raw file. The DxO.jpg was about 30MB.
