Yep it was the Salt River - I would blame it on auto correct but instead I'll 'oops that's on me'. Thanks for the correction

Okay...There are a bunch of saying out there...'The Customer is Always Right'; 'It's the new normal'; 'She was having a bad day' 'Turn the other cheek' etc., etc., etc.
Bottom line Customer Service is Dead! Period! Why? Many theories. My explanation is we, the customer dosen't do anything about it. In this example, there were many good solutions to how the FIL should deal with it. Deal with it? I say no, until we, the consumer get real about this type of treatment we will be dealing with this again and again and again. Good Lens - yes, good price - probably - but does that give the manufacture the green light to treat us this way? Because Sigma does it, Nikon does it, Tamron does it - this is golden, this is it? Enough already. Just imagine for a moment, everybody who got an item as a gift that could not register it because of a lack of the original receipt took the item back. Now there's a statement! Everybody complains, nobody does anything about it - including me. Maybe 2018 I'll start standing up, speaking up, and take action.
One more thing...Six year warranty is a great selling point, but if a high percentage of consumers can't get their product registered for one reason or another, a lot less exchanges under warranty - bottom line dollars looking pretty good for the manufacture.

Are you sure the message is referring to 'memory' and not 'storage'. Storage is your hard drive where the the program (apps) and your data is stored. Memory is where the programs (apps) run (execute) and where your data resides when the program is using it. Try and determine which type is low. If the memory is low, check and see what programs were started (and running in the background) that you don't need running, stopping them if possible. If it's storage consider an external hard drive for your data files.

I like and continue to use external drives for backup because after the backup completes, I can physically disconnect the drives, eliminating the fear of ransom wear. Not to mention cycling the external drives off-site for added protection.

I'm not an engineer, but this does not sound like good advice, I certainly would not use anything abrasive. I just can't imagine memory cards coming loose causing any kind of corrosion. As my wife frequently points out - I might be wrong. This response was to the match book solution.

I purchased the Canon (2 battery) Battery Grip for my Canon EOS 6D camera at the same time I bought the camera. I find only pros to this add-on: 1) the grip itself and the extra controls when shooting portraits 2) extra battery power 3) the weight and feel. The weight of the camera + lens + battery grip is a bit much hanging around my neck, but that out weighs the pros, in my mind anyway.

First of all -- Backup, backup, backup! I always backup all my important data to external devices on both my Win 10 Pro and Mac OS systems. High quality external storage devices (WD 2TB Elements USB 3.0 External Hard Drive) is, in my opinion, the perfect solution for today's computers. It's a given, computers, software, memory, storage WILL FAIL at some point. Protect yourself from; everyday accidental erasing, spilled coffee, upgrades, catastrophic events. Now back to your issue...After made two full backups, I upgraded to macOS High Sierra the day it became available. The upgrade was smooth, without any issues. I am a beta tester of High Sierra, at version 10.13.3. Had I encountered the issue you had I would have called Apple Support. I can honestly say, I have never lost any data because I backup. I know none of this will get your pictures back, but remember the beginning of my post -- Backup, backup, backup!

I have a Dell T5500 W/S, my memory cards snap into place with a clip keeping the cards well seated. Not sure about your machine, but I don't see mine coming loose. Just my 2.5 cents.

I looked at the Tamron 16/300mm Lens, but ended up purchasing the Tamron 18/400mm Lens. My goal was to secure an 'All-In-One' lens. A lens I could use indoors, capturing my Grandkids and Great-Grandkids being kids, other family ; as well as using outdoors capturing wildlife, old barns and farm houses, and my absolute favorite object - Dead Trees. Full disclosure, I have not taken thousands of pictures with this lens yet, but have taken around 500 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. With the exception of photographer error, the pictures were very good at both short and long range. I was able to grab some amazing closeups of my new twin Great-Granddaughters! I would recommend the Tamron 18/400mm Lens; it IS an excellent All-In-One Lens.

Excellent capture. I absolutely love pictures, the 'character', of old structures as I always try to picture it when it was brand new! Especially old houses, when the last nail was driven in and the husband carried his wife over the threshold for the very first time.

I purchased the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens for Canon EF from B&H Photo and am getting fantastic pictures at all lengths, both indoors and out! The lens is light weight and gives me the range I was looking for. It may not be the lens for world famous photographers but this lens sure does my pics proud, I couldn't be happier. I would recommend this lens to anyone that is looking for an all-in-one lens. My only other lens I carry now, is a macro lens to capture insects on plant leaves etc. BTW as a side note, the folks at B&H were great with their answers and advice regarding my purchase of this lens.

Thanks! The next time we have clear skies at night, I live in the mid-west, I am going to try some night sky shots.
