I would like to go and “shoot the moon” but I’m in Toronto and it is going to be -20C at moonrise time. Best vantage will be at Humber Bay on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Not sure if I really want to chance freezing my noogies to get the shot.......

Did not see your topic listed because I do not know what your subject line is. But I had read that the Supermoon, being called that because of its relative closeness to earth in its apogee was starting from 9:24 pm EST. Since I am in SoCal, I knew I would not be up quite that late, but still wanted the photo so I went out in the 60 degree weather on a cloudy nite for this one.

I think moon shots are boring unless....
There is a juxtaposition with an earthbound subject - e.g., Someone took a shoot once with the moon positioned right above Lady Liberties torch....
OR
The moon exhibits an unusual color - blood red moon, etc., along with partially obscuring clouds....
OR
A UFO is passing by the moon ....
OR a moon trail is shot.
Of course someday, when SpaceX gets affordable enough, maybe a shot FROM the moon?

Yeah, some people say so... but some of us just can't get enough of it.

Same with watching the same stars, same sunsets, same mountain, same cardinal on the same feder... it's all the same and boring if one looks at it that way...

Outstanding photo pmorin. Great detail. Mine is not as good as yours but the best I have done to date. Shot handheld, f6.5,
1/500 sec., iso-100. Used my new (used from ebay) Nikon Coolpix B700 at full optical zoom (1440mm equiv focal length - actual focal length 361mm). A bit of cropping, sharpening, tweaking and downsizing in Photoshop.

Well, I always try to use a tripod whenever it is available. But if I have to go handheld because it’s happening now, then ok, but not if I want that sharp detail. I was shooting a Canon 7DII with an EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens
Full zoom 400mm 1/1600 f/5.6 ISO 250
I had been using a Tamron 200-500 lens, but the photos were just a little soft in focus.
Same thing happens if I use a 1.4 extender.

To be bored with the same thing just means I need to use my imagination more.
And my wife will never hear me say I’m bored with her. That would be suicidal.
As to what I see in the Moon, well, it does have rotation relative to earth. I see the Man in the Moon upside down sometimes. Then there are those nights where I just want to howl at it.
