Depends on what I'm shooting - But I always like to go very, very light.

I do a lot of rock concert photography in medium (2,000-4,000 seats) and large (over 5,000 seats) so when I'm doing that it's always:
D750 with 24mm-70mm F2.8 + 70-200mm F2.8

If I'm just walking around doing landscapes or street photography it's:
D750 with either a 24mm F2.8 or 50mm F1.8

If Its portraits I have an 85mm that I love as well as the 70-200

I have other stuff I use but like I said I prefer to go as light as possible.
Obviously I use a tripod whenever I do landscape work etc....you know that kind of stuff.
I have a kit bag with odd & ends in it - That always stays in the car boot - just in case I need something while I'm out and about.

One of the main reasons to use live view is the increased range of focus point options.
In live view you can set your focus point anywhere within the frame and that becomes an active focus point. So you are not limited to 39, 58 or whatever your cameras limit is.
That is one of the main reasons for me to use live-view and it works pretty great shooting landscapes where you want to set your focus point at an exact point to achieve maximum focus throughout the capture.
I'm probably explaining it badly but do a google search for a more succinct explanation.
Hope this helps a little.

Thank you to everyone for the kind comments.
To all of you suffering through a tough winter, try to keep warm and remember warmer weather is coming!

Best Wishes,

Hi James, I do agree that Laguna is a beautiful place. Great way to start 2018.

I really like your B&W especially #3. The composition is very well done, lots of great detail in the foreground and an interesting background to go along with it. Foreground is sharp with good contrast. A very nice image.

The composition in the color images are very well done. For my taste, the color images would be stronger if the blue cast was a little more muted. It feels, to me, white/color balance is slightly off.

They are still very fine photographs. How could you go wrong at Laguna.

My first instinct was to prefer the color shots. But after more closely looking at the B&W, I now prefer them. Good work either way. Looks like 1/1/18 was a lot warmer in SO.Cal, than in N.E. CT.

Hi - Yes I almost felt guilty posting these because I know it's been bitterly cold back east.
I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio so I know about cold winters! Keep warm and hopefully Spring is just around the corner!

Hope the New Year is starting off well for all here on the UHH. I took these on New Years Day at Laguna Beach, California.
I'm posting both original color and B&W versions of a couple of the shots.
Shot these using ND filters to achieve longer exposure as the sun was setting.
I always enjoying spending some time in Laguna, truly a beautiful place.
Happy New Year!

Of course everything is subjective but I really the the poses, I think you captured a unique aspect of the persons character.
Nice job and I also really like that you used the Fall leaves as a visual aspect, they are subtle but add a lot to the composition.
