Very interesting, thanks for details about your trip. I have a "Roadside Geology..." book that is fascinating, for locating interesting geology in my state. I enjoyed your pictures.

The decision to change the Flint water supply was made by a Republican appointed "special master," or some such, against the wishes of the duly elected city council, and without proper scientific study of the possible consequences. Here's a timeline of this mess: http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/04/us/flint-water-crisis-fast-facts/

Trump may well be working without salary, but he is most probably in violation of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution. See: https://constitutioncenter.org/interactive-constitution/articles/article-i/the-foreign-emoluments-clause-article-i-section-9-clause-8/clause/34 Every room rental at his hotel in DC by a foreign party, and rental of space in Trump Tower by foreign entities is a potential violation, isn't it.

I imagine that he and his family will reap millions from his tenure in the White House.

Of course had he put his holdings into an actual Blind Trust, not merely handing over day to day operations to a family member, that Clause wouldn't have made a difference. Had he furnished his tax returns, as have all presidents since, IIRC, Richard Nixon, his protestations of honesty would have been a little more believable. BTW, G W Bush and Richard Nixon look a lot better in comparison with Mr Trump.
The decision to change the Flint water supply was ... (show quote)

No, not in violation of emoluments; government ethics has gone over everything with a fine tooth comb. That's wishful thinking on the part of liberals. He is under no obligation to divest himself or to furnish tax returns. He complied with all requirements for the job. The lib "wish list" is a bottomless pit of nitpicking and nothing more.

Trump had money and power; it's not what motivated him to run for the White House.

Have a good day, we're replowing the bitter field of lib grievances and it's not going to sprout seeds or have any fruit to bear.

I don't know if that's possible, not here in America. But why don't you just check off all the socialist activity that you don't want below...

For blueprint of Fed gov'ts job, refer to the Constitution, which specifically gave unallocated powers to THE STATES. I think we could do with a lot less Uncle Sam, and only things I see that should be Federal relate to national security and defense. I'm not big "nanny state" advocate because bureaucracy grows like topsy, simply to make its own job secure, with too many unelected bureaucrats serving "justice" from their concrete tower.

Not a fan.
Gates' parents were "wealthy," but not in the same fashion as Trump's father. See:

"Gates was born in Seattle, Washington on October 28, 1955. He is the son of William H. Gates Sr.[b] (born 1925) and Mary Maxwell Gates (1929–1994). His ancestry includes English, German, Irish, and Scots-Irish.[17][18] His father was a prominent lawyer, and his mother served on the board of directors for First Interstate BancSystem and the United Way. Gates' maternal grandfather was JW Maxwell, a national bank president."

This is from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates

As far as general and sub contractors in the trades going bankrupt, certainly there are many. But Trump refused to pay many subs what he'd agreed to pay, and of course with his horde of lawyers the legal system was of little help to the injured parties. The man is a cheat and a scoundrel, and unfit to be POTUS.
A lot of the liberal regurgitation is exaggeration, as this is. I worked for a contractor, and payment is not completed until the work is done meeting specs. That's just how it is. If you don't do the work right, you either fix it or you suffer loss in remedy. Have you ever hired a contractor, and would you write out a check if they didn't do the work? ...

So you don't like him. We know. I disagree with your assessment.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Bill's folks were/are wealthy. I know of many successful general and sub contractors in the building industry who went broke and are now successful again. It's not how many times you fall down, it's how many times you get back up.

4 Chapter 11's out of 500 businesses is an enviable record. Incidentally, many businesses fell during the economic downturn and NEVER got back up. Trump has created tens of THOUSANDS of jobs, and still does... nice to have a President who has signed the front of a paycheck and actually put on a hard hat and gone out to dig some dirt and build something. He has very loyal employees, some for many decades, for good reason.

Well, an accomplished businessman. How many times has he gone bankrupt, depending on Daddy to bail him out? And he started out with only a few million dollars, right? How many small businessmen and contractors has he stiffed on his gaudy projects? IIRC US banks when he'd defaulted a "few" times refused to loan him money, so he went abroad for loans ... perhaps to Russia? During the campaign Donald Jr said that the Trump Org had "a lot" of money coming in from Russia. How about Trump University, an outright scam? Recall that he finally settled for millions payback to the people he swindled.

Neither Bill Gates nor Warren Buffett built their fortunes on family money and connections. Both of them are in a sense paying back, Gates through the Gates Foundation, Buffett along with Mark Zuckerberg is a participant in the Gates Foundation. Both have pledged along with Gates to give away at least half of their wealth. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Buffett#Wealth_and_philanthropy BTW, Buffett lives in the modest brick rancher he built in the late 1950s.

By contrast Trump's philanthropic efforts are puny. The Trump Foundation is under investigation for self-dealing, using Foundation monies for the benefit of Mr Trump.
Well, an accomplished businessman. How many times... (show quote)

Yeah, I get it, you don't like Trump, so you regurgitate the liberal rendition of Trump's flaws. There is a "rest of the story"...but I don't believe you're interested in a fair hearing or facts of the matter. That's okay. Trump is wildly popular with half of the country, and that was enough to get him in the White House, and the rest will be history. Good history. Good change. I'm enjoying every minute of his enforcing the laws and cutting bloated bureaucrats off at the pass. Most of his cabinet is working for NO SALARY, as he is, simply for the purpose of serving our country.

That is practically unheard of altruism, speaking of "giving".

And FLINT? There's plenty of blame to go around, and it all lands on inefficient and crooked bureaucrats. At least Trump is expending Federal $$ to try to fix the problem. We'll see if libs can get it together to replace some pipes, or if the $$ just all goes into some scummy political bucket fund, eh?

My position is that less government is better, per the Constitution. We have a problem with bloated, ineffective gov't, and a lot of what you're citing doesn't work very well anymore. FDA is a good example of bloated bureaucrats beyond effectiveness, and politically managed rather than managed for efficiency and results. The good ol' days were different times, of course, but we could take a lesson for people bearing consequences of their own actions instead of making all of us responsible for their stupid crap.
