Off Trail North of Cameron Pass, Olympic Mountains, Oct. 2019

Still lots of color in the wetter areas. The colors had changed from the intense tones of late July and August to more subdued tones in the cooler weather of Fall, but still showed some nice solid colors. The sky was really nice, not long after a thunderstorm, and was reflecting some pink-gold hues.

Fuji GX680
Fuji 80/5.6 lens (I think)
Kodak Ektar film
A bit of down-tilt to increase depth of field. It takes a surprisingly small amount of tilt to get everything in reasonable focus.

I totally agree with Cyberkinesis70, the photographer IS the story. Without him it's just another scene.

Just my humble opinion of course.

Gene

That's one reason for posting. Varied opinions create ideas. Thank you.

The photographer is the story. Cloning him out changes the whole thing. Please leave it alone.

Well, I'll try to clone him out as per a suggestion; but of course I'll leave this original as is.

You can take him out with Photoshop. Give it a try!

I was up taking a shower, and thought about that. I will give it a try, though I'm not too good at it. You want to see the results, shaky as they might be?

Take the photographer out and I think you will have a better picture.

You are quite right, bertloomis. Live and learn...I only took one shot with my friend in the image, and then later regretted that I hadn't shot a couple of the same scene without a person in it. I think that, when I thought about it later, I even put my hands on my knees and said to myself, "sheesh, you didn't get one with just the landscape, dumba**? Haha!

Sunset Magazine was a 'required reading' all through my house when I was younger. What a fantastic publication. That is GREAT that you did assignments for them. Did you use medium format, or 35mm, or a combination of both?

Here's a "local" goat for you, up in the SE Olympic Mountains. Taken with a Fuji GX680, a sort of monster of a medium format camera.

I presume you spent that night alone? What a beautiful location; somewhere to get lost in one’s mind. A very long way from the big city life!

Paul, yeah I almost always have hiked alone since my first off trail solo hike when I was 12. Pushing mid-70s now, so I've been at it a while.

Very nice image, and different too. Quite otherworldly looking, having never seen beargrass before.
