When I have a unfavorable green tint on a monitor display, I just checked the monitor cables to make sure they are in place properly. This check cost ya nothing if you haven't fix the tint situation already....

Not necessary to retouch, but to enlarge to a very large size for printing…. OK?

Send me the original RAW file via email to stuparr@stusplace.com and I'll give it a shot. Seems like a challenge at that size but would like to try....

If you are particular about your photo color that will appear in Shutterfly’s printed books, they will auto correct your color balance. One auto correct can be cancelled from a global parameter selection, but another change they will make you must cancel at each photo you place on their pages. If you are not fussy about your color balance and don’t mind their adjustments, you will like them. I personally don’t want my color balances changed. I have had them reprints couple of my ‘coffee table’ size books before I quit using them due to this problem. Just a thought!

I use Blurb Photo book publishing and they do as good a job as Shutterfly. You can find them at Blurb.com….

I use them exclusively as they offer at a competitive price the most flexible tools to preparing a large photo book. These tools work as well for their smaller books too. Be careful if you chose Shutterfly. They print a nice book, but they well change the color balance to what they think is correct. This can work well if you do not work yourself to set the colors the way wane them to look like. One of these color changes you can reset on a global basis, but the other change they make, you can only reset on each individual picture you place in their books. I gave them only one chance and then found MixBooks, which works much better for me at a competitive price.. happy hunting…!

My current photo printer for the photos I sell and for my private use is the
Epson P800. It does a super job on 25X17 inch prints down to 4X6 inch prints with excellent color results. I print exclusively on Red River papers which in my humble opinion is as good or better than any other ink jet printer paper on the market and a bit less expensive. Canon has one comparable to the Epson P800 which is very good, but not sure about HP or any other. You will be very happy with either the Epson or the Canon …. Good luck

70-200 lens is all you’ll need. That is all I take on cruises unless the cruise includes a stop in Africa to see the animals p, then add your longest tele or zoom…. And that is the truth…. Bon Voyage….!

It only works ‘well’ if people inside are not moving around as they often do in trying to see where the bears are. A sand bag will not steady your camera if the Buggy is rocking about. I have several blurred photos taken on my sand bag. Just saying what happened to me in Churchill, Canada. If you can control the other folks in your Buggy it is a great stabilizing device….

You’ll need as long a zoom as you got, but also need no more than 70 mm on the short end of your zoom for when zee bears come close or right up to your tundra buggy. Tripods and sand bags are useless as some one is always moving around in the buggy and rocking it. I know as I tried the sandbag stabilizing trick and gave up using it on the next bear shots…. Good hunting!

Those who don't consider Mix Book Printing are really missing zee boat for some. It should be listed with Blurb and Shutterfly. I have stated some of the pit falls for those who are really, really fussy about the photos represented in the coffee table type or the many other types of printed books. To them, you really owe it to yourself to check out 'Mix Book Printers Company' at https://www.mixbook.com ....... Just a thought!!!

I have done business with Shutterfly for years and never had an issue with color match. I do spend a little extra and get their better printing.

If Shutterfly works for you, that is OK. I am very particular and calibrate my post processing equipment and adjust the color balance on my photo book images as necessary, but have had problems with their auto color adjustments. I just wanted to warn those who might have this problem, also. Other than that Shutterfly does a rather good job and has for a long time.

They did, however buy, a while ago 'MyPublisher' Photo Book Printer and then put them out of business as, I guess, 'MyPublisher'was doing as good or better job at printing Photo Books and offered a few more options....! Who really knows? Sincerely, Stu Parr...

If you want to be in control of your book’s photo colors, beware for Shutterfly changes your color balance in 2 ways. One is a global a auto color adjustment that can be turned OFF. The second one must be turned OFF on each photo you put into the book. I could not find a way to turn off this second auto color adjustment globally. They messed up my book and had to reprint it due to their automatic color adjustment and the second reprint was better, but not acceptable. If you like what they do to your color balance, then that is OK for you. Just a warning to those who are critical with your photo’s color balance. I have gone to Mixbook as they cover all my book printing needs without messing with the photos I place in their books. Blurb is another book printer that I would recommend. Just a thought and my experience with many of those who produce a quality product at a reasonable price. If you need/want any further info please contact me at: stuparr@stusplace.com……..
